When I was a renter and had a problem like that, I would call my land lady and ask her to take care of the problem. She usually took care of it. If she didn't I would ask her if it was ok for me to hire someone (a company), and hand her the receipt with the adjusted rent money. Should this thing end up in court, the judge will ask you to provide documentation as of how hard you try to work something out with your land lord. Dates, receits, ultimatums, witnesses, pictures etc. Read your contract and see what it says about faulty stuff and repairs. If they are in breach of contract, they you may have a few couses of action. I have a couple of spare blankets, too bad your live 3k miles away. Good luck!
Well, it did in fact get turned on that night, but I was all in a panic because last year, they were without heat for much, much longer. He's still apologizing to me... This is nothing compared to what I went through in Mexico, although the results of not having heat were pretty uncomfortable!
It is nice that he is appologizing but I also think you should be compensated for your inconvenience :!:
