It's easy to blame Bush. Should we blame Cheney and Rice and Rove and the rest too? I'm happy to do that! Obama's second book, Audacity of Hope, is an easy read. He writes well, it's conversational but precise. Read it, then decide if you are still scared. I think you will relax when you've read that. He's not hot-headed, won't make rash decisions, will surround himself with wise and experienced people and then he will listen to them. It won't be perfect. But we won't keep going broke paying for a war that gives us nothing in return except "honored dead."
Not to take anything away from McCain.... RG - Couldn't agree with you more, and obviously the MAJORITY of americans feel the same way - as it is a majority rule gov't. I am originally from Seattle, then Canada, and now Cun. Most of my cdn and american friends feel the exact same way. Bush and his congregation should be embarassed. Now, I swore I would never get into this sort of converstaion, but after reading that last comment........ . Ignorance is an evil thing. The world, let alone the USA , has not seen such an economic crisis since the great depression. The US now owes more money to China and Russia than will ever be repaid. I am wondering how the interest is going to be repaid, let alone the debt on the 14 trillion dollars that was just borrowed/printed. I actually find that comment quite offensive, and I am not a muslim, nor an african american. Regardless of such, Barack Obama is a Christian and has attended the same Christian Church (Trinity United Church of Christ) for nearly 20 years. Religion, colour, ethnicity, shouldnt' matter. It's a common belief that matters... Change. No one can argue that change isn't needed. I wish Obama luck, as he has his work cut out for him...as would have John McCain. The economy is in some serious trouble. Everyone can have their own views, but if you are going to post something in a factual manner... Make sure it's a fact and your homework is done.
I see you left out the part about " the muslim communist" that was just voted in.... I think that is more what I was referring to. If you noticed, I never attacked Bush, Clinton, McCain or Obama...Simply stated a FACT that the US economy has never been in so much trouble. I wish nothing but the best for this next president, as I would have for McCain. I thnk he has his work cut out as I had suggeted earlier... However, I do think it's worse when ppl are suggesting he "is a communist muslim that doesnt' care about the US and is trying to destroy the congregation". That is ignorance, and that is the homework that was being referred to
Of course we should all have our own opinion. Agreed. I said that in my first post. I am offended/embarassed as a person born in the US, who went to school in Canada, and now lives in Cancun - that someone in the year 2008 would post something about someone's religion that WASN'T true, and call them a communist...to use it against them. However, should know better just to avoid these topics. (slap on my wrist) I dont' want to argue back and fourth - I joined this forum to speak with ppl who live in Cancun, and look for answers/suggestions, and some friends. Here's to hoping for the best, and some much needed change.
"Couple of things that maybe should be considered with this great NEW US Change: The worst has happened. We've elected a Commmunist Muslim puppet who hates the United States and wants to destroy the Constitution. So be it. I wonder what all the asshats who voted for hope and change and lots of free stuff will think--to the degree they can think at at--when they're shivering in the dark and paying ten dollars for a loaf of bread? Well, the press will tell them that's is the result of the failed policies of the corrupt Bush regime. And they'll believe it. At least none living here in Cancun will be cold but those where I come from will Be. " Speaking as a Muslim, I can tell you right away that you are being quite offensive. This is the year 2008 not 1908 and race and religion are passe. Very passe. Only the uneducated, unlearned and frankly, redneck types speak of race and religion and use it as a criticism as opposed to just criticising a person's politics. By the way, in case you didn't know, the term "Communist Muslim" is an oxymoron. Communists for the most part - that is true communism - are atheists. you cannot be a muslim and a communist. I laughed the hardest at your comment that it was the Clinton years where you lost money and that Obama is a communist. Do you know why? Because Clinton may have started the deregulation of the markets but your beloved republicans finished it. In fact, they left the markets so deregulated that Wall Street has been behaving like a drunken frat boy for the last 8 years of the Bush Administration. Also, who was it that came up with a 700 billion dollar bailout? Oh yes, it was the republicans. Yes. It was. That little bailout and then nationalising the banks is the epitome of socialism... and who proposed it? A Republican appointee and who endorsed it? A republican president... John Mcain showed great class and grace during his concession speech. It is unfortunate that his supporters showed their true colours by booing and shouting out racist comments. They showed themselves to be the redneck trash that they are stereotyped as... And labelling Obama as a communist muslim (i.e. using race and/or religion) shows what kind of people republicans really are.
I couldn't help but just put a quick little note on this conversation. I am not going to get into name calling or any of that type thing. The only thing I would like to say is that we are all Americans, one country, and we all just need to work together. The election is done, and there isn't anything to do now but move on and appreciate the country that we live in and do our best to make it a better country. On a side note, isn't this section of the message board usually about Living in Cancun?
