High heels + drinking + wet tile + dancing = not so much fun with bruises and sprained ankles! I found that out when it was raining a bunch on our Oct. trip last year. Wedge heels give you more stability, but you still have to deal with slippery floors sometimes, and the higher your shoes, the harder it is to recover from a slip without getting hurt. I am 5'6" so heels can make me pretty tall, and since I don't wear them much anymore anyway, stability is way more of an issue! If you wear them all the time and can basically run in them without a problem (like I used to be able to do in the 80s - lol!), then you probably won't have the stability issues I did. I gave up on heels there and stuck to my nicer flip-flop sandals with a great flashy pedicure. The other thing to consider about shoes to bring is their weight. If you are checking your bag, heavy shoes can really add to the weight and take up a lot of room in your suitcase. The 50 pound limit for checked bags can add up quickly, especially if you don't have a light weight suitcase (those alone can be 12-15 pounds). I found it necessary to get me some water sandals for the sexy pool after slipping so many times and bruising up my legs/arms last January! Didn't slip at all getting in and out of the sexy pool in April with my awesome water sandals! Great investment!! I think most guys are going to be looking a bit higher than your feet anyway ;-)
