Tell your wife to go with a platform heel.... The wife loves em ..... a 5" heel with a 2" platform is only really 3"
ok then so if the general consensus is anything that she will be comfy in. What are the best places to shop, online or in store, for dressy flats, flip flops or platform heels? As you can tell I am a little out of my element when it comes to shoes. Generally though I can nail an outfit down for a woman in no time flat.
I'd suggest hitting the sales after Christmas! Lots of glam shoes available during the holidays. Try places like the Nordstrom Rack, where you can pick up all kinds of oddball shoes at great prices. I found a pair of metallic "jewelled" flip flops at the local drugstore one summer! All the cruise wear will come out in January, so there will be more summer shoes available then than now. eBay is also a good bet for shoes like flip flips that are easy to fit. I've always found that Christmastime is the best time of the year to get deals on shoes and apparel on eBay, because everyone is busy buying gifts instead of things for themselves (except for Christmas outfits of course). I'm always kinda hesitant to buy shoes online, as you never know if they will fit right. You don't want to start a long night with shoes that hurt as soon as you put them on!
I thought for the longest time i couldn't wear heels either but its all in the shoe. I now wear heels with a T strap (around the ankle) it adds more stability. Of course platforms with a WIDE platform base and wedges are another option. I am a size 9 but most times when i buy heels i go up a 1/2 size or go wide depending upon the shoe and that helps...Oh and inserts are good too. A great shoe site is Zappos.com they have everything and their return policy is awesome.
I might notice the odd amazing shoe on a woman but mostly it's curiosity about how the hell they walk in 5 inch heels!. Most of us have other really good parts to look at and the shoes are way down on the list... Just smile:icon_smile: and walk in whatever you like with a pile of confidence....that's what draws attention....
I completely agree that comfort is a key to success in looking sexy in your shoes! A wobbly legged woman with a pain stricken face is not so sexy! LOL! But i do love the way my legs look with sexy heels on....for TTR I tend to get sexy wedges or heels that are a 1/2 size bigger than normal because my feet get swollen from drinking and hanging at the sexy pool. I also try to stay away from pointy toed shoes...learned that lesson on the parade & pub crawl in N'awlins this year!!!
Love the idea that us women without heels just walk in with a smile, get on the dance floor and just get down! You won't notice the difference, apart from me ogling the women in sexy shoes going "OMG I LOVE YOUR SHOES!" to those wearing beautiful high heels! Still love them to bits. I love that I walk into shoe stores, try on the highest shoes possible, and walk 5 paces going 'these are the bomb' before I have to take them off before I break my neck!
You have to work up tolerance to heels, so breaking 'em out just for a trip is a shortcut to misery. I agree with everyone else that the sexiest thing is what you feel confident and can move in. However, I'm a major heels girl, so I've learned some things along the way that can make them bearable: 1. Boots are more comfortable than shoes. If your feet swell or shift, straps and that front edge that digs into your toe bone are going to kill. With boots, there's no edge to cut across the top of your foot. 2. The thicker the heel, the more stable for walking and the less back pain. Wedges are the most comfortable, especially if the sole is flexible. Stilettos are a curse from the Devil. I wear them if I plan to sit and be decorative only! 3. Offset the heels with a platform. You know those 5" stripper shoes from Lovers Lane? They're actually almost flat inside! I survived Mardi Gras in a pair...no, wait...I ROCKED Mardi Gras in a pair:icon_smile:
