Hi everyone.. great information.. I just found your site.. I am leaving for cancun in two weeks for 16 days.. I currently have a samsung galaxy s III from t-mobile.. Since the roaming charges are outragious I am having my phone turned "off" .. They did email me instructions to unlock my phone.. I see that everyone mostly goes to the "Telcel" store in the hotel zone @ la isla mall if it's still there.. ( I have not been there in 3 years) I mainly want to use the phone for data (to take pics to post to my facebook.. or check in's .. is this going to be a problem? are the sim cards only used for "voice" making calls or receiving them to the mexican # that is provided? If anyone has any input thank you for your time... Question # 2 I am bringing my laptop and can use (email or skype) for conversations with family at home to keep in touch. My question here is the wifi .. I am staying at a hotel and yes they have wifi but my room is a beach room villa.. which isn't up by the pool /office where wifi is more used and common with no connection issues. I would like to be connected in my room.. not drag my computer out and walk to the pool or lobby just to check my business emails on a daily basis.. is there wifi there in cancun that I can buy for my laptop in case the hotels wifi does not connect me? I spoke to a woman from the hotel and she says the beach villas internet comes and goes.. sometimes the connections are not the best.. if theres something I can do / buy there at "telcel" that you know of that will keep my laptop connected no matter what I would appreciate the info.. . I don't speak spanish so I hope I have no issues trying to explain this while I am there..
