WE ARE NOT SWINGERS! Not that there is anything wrong with that we are not judgemental. But this will be our 6th trip. Doesn't mean we don't enjoy being SEXY and flirtacious. We were VERY worried the first time we went but now there is no place we would rather be! We have met so many amazing new friends. You will love it! I am (the wife) speaking and I can assure you both that it will be nothing short of awesome. 99% of the people are extremely awesome and respectful. RELAX, don't over analyse it and just have fun. There is nothing to worry about!
woman to woman I felt EXACTLY like you Laurie! Our first trip was last September and I thought "Oh my God, what are we doing?!" To be honest I felt that way right up to the time we checked in! BUT, that first night we met a great group of people, started partying and before you know we were having the time of our lives. That set the tone for the rest of our trip. We stayed 4 nights. Not enough! Next time (April) we're staying 8! Yes, there was plenty of toplessness. I don't think my husband had any problem with it, LOL. It took me a little while to get used to, but eventually I did. I actually started to envy the women who could feel so free! I'm on the shy side and personally I wasn't ready to take that step. That's the great thing about this place. There's never any pressure to do anything you don't want to do. Maybe I'll feel different about it on our next trip. Maybe not. The important thing is, it's your choice, and no one will judge you either way. Everyone else who commented on this thread is spot-on so I won't repeat those things. My advice would be to step outside of your comfort zone and take a chance on this place. I'm so glad we did! Our trip to TTR was the most fun we have ever had on a vacation. We laughed so much! As for swingers, some of the nicest, fun and respectful people we met were in the lifestyle. There is so much more to a person than what they do in their private lives, so don't be afraid to talk to people. You might end up making some great friends. Hope this helps ease your mind. My advice would be to continue to read the forums on Cancuncare and talk to people on here who will be there at the same time. First time in Jan 2011 - Wife did not take her top off - We did not know who were the swingers and who weren't - We enjoyed the food and the fun and made tons of friends - Won the couples competition without any nudity! - Won the volley ball competition twice. You guys will have the time of your life!
I wouldn't worry about the swingers. I bet that you already are friends with or work with some and don't even know it. And you've definitely been within 10' of one (or two or three) and weren't accosted. Contrary to popular belief, they don't just run around dry-humping the legs of anything that moves. When you are introducing yourself to a nice couple, if during the handshake they follow up the shake with a weird thing with their thumb and then a finger flutter thing, followed by a fist-bump, just pull your hand back at that point and walk the other way. This is the opening sequence of the secret swinger handshake and by walking away early enough, you should be ok.
Not much to add, but just wanted to say thanks to all those who have offered advice and re-assurance. What a great community we have! How many times have we seen similar questions.... and then a few months later seen a new repeater born? It is so funny reading this thread as we were in the same boat as everyone else is. Our fear wasn't the nudity or swingers as much as it was about going to Mexico. After being bitten by the TTR bug we've been there 3 times in 2012 and are heading back again. We are now at a place where we find ourselves saying, "why book anywhere else, we know we'll be thinking I wish I was at TTR" so we simply go back. If you find yourself up on a raft in the sexy pool or up on the bar and people are doing body shots off you or vice versa, doesn't mean your a swinger, just means your having a blast, so lay back relax and enjoy your holiday.
