And really don't you think if it was that easy everyone would do it. And I'm positive that everyone that paid a sum of money for being a member would make a point of going up to the office and demand their money back. Why pay for this if I can book twice and have all these perks bestowed upon me. I'd feel sorry for the platinum members that paid the whole enchilada price and someone can book twice and get the same thing with no money down. Can you say lawsuit. Really folks if it sounds to good to be true it usually is and I've seen more than a few requests for a link or proof and yet the originator of this thread won't post it makes you wonder why that is doesn't it?
I'm not inclined to think it's anything intentionally devious etc. I'm more inclined to think it's a difference in interpretation myself. For reasons you stated I can't imagine that they'd book someone in with the gold band, check in at the RCI office, the upgraded room with robes and slippers etc. for nothing. Heck there are even different phone numbers and emails for booking with the hotel and premier. Two effectively separate entities. Just my gut feeling.
I was the originator of this thread. All I wanted was some info. Not trying to start controversy. The only claim I made was that I had been checking prices and couldn't beat the resort price. Got some good info from a couple of people including Keith and Donald. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers. Wasn't intentional.
I agree! Your original request for info was valid. A good forum thread. The 'let's say' one or two that were possibly misguiding the chat have caused some problems in other forums. Thankfully we have Steve who steps in and sets them straight from time to time.
Just want to apologize for my posting it as the originator of the thread and as Canadian Dos Equis fan pointed out my comment wasn't meant to be directed at you... it was for the person that started the whole line of book twice get a free premier membership comment.... as others have pointed out to become a premier member you have to negotiate and sign a contract and there a number of days that you buy..... once again I'm sorry about that.
Yes.........we are always now Premier.........we were shocked but it's absolutely true! The only thing tTat we don't get is "memberships" at non-premier resorts.......but we are forever "premier" at TTR, Desire, and Pearl..........
............plus........ those booking through the resort get the better rooms.........when you book through Expedia......etc.....they buy a block of cheap rooms..........never the best rooms at the resort. Those are the rooms you get.....
Well as a premier member, I'm sure when I ask for a refund, and they say why and I say hey I'll just book twice through the hotel and get premier status they'll go no problem sir and know exactly what I'm talking about right? They wont look at me like I've got three heads and say WTF are talking about? Because I know for sure when I get there they'll try and up sell me, meaning increasing my membership more days more money....even though we got a reasonable amount of days that works for us. So I'll shoot that question by them as I'm super curious now. Because we went through what it takes to be a premier member. We did the whole tour and talk with the nice people.
