We're actually going for 9 nights in July this year cheaper than we went for 7 nights two years ago during June. You might check prices from other airports nearby. We saved over $600 from booking through Tulsa (about 2 hours away) compared to our closer airport. Strange thing though, the flight from Tulsa has a transfer in Dallas. We looked also at prices for just leaving from Dallas instead. It was $5 cheaper. Apparently we're paying $5 for the flight from Tulsa to Dallas?
We booked through an airport 3 hours away and saved $1100 over our local international airport. It's a bit of a drive, but worth it for us.
I actually bought our tickets and room on Travelocity for $1100 each back in February and now the price has dropped to $920 each. Go figure!! Oh well we just wanted to make sure it did not get sold out!! Come on July 19th!!
I booked out of a small airport - direct flight from Austin to Cancun with a Houston connection on the return flight. 4 days for right at $1000 for single occupancy. Didn't think that was too bad considering a direct flight out. Come on July 24!!! Can't wait. So excited. So much has happened in this past year I need this vacation SO FREAKING BAD!!!!!
If your airfare drops in price after you've paid, but before you begin travel, contact the airlines. Most airlines will reimburse you the difference.
Has anyone used cheapcaribbean.com? That's how we found this place because there was a great rate for an all-inclusive package with flight, hotel, transportation, everything. We knew nothing about this place when we booked it. I think we got a pretty good deal, and coincidentally booked September 17-24, the last week they'll be open.
We used Cheap Caribbean for the first trip as they had the best deal.... no problems. Used Orbitz for the second trip as they beat Cheap Caribbean ...no problems. For our third I had all our information filled out on Orbitz again when my wife noticed a $75 coupon in the entertainment.com coupon book we purchased. They had a coupon that stated $75 off 5 day travel through orbitz. We went to the link on the coupon book, and they were $221 cheaper compared to the price Orbitz was offering and that was not considering the the $75 mail in rebate. Clicked the purchase button and a few minutes later we received a travel confirmation for our trip through "neat travel". That must be the company Entertainment Coupon book uses instead of Orbitz. We were a little skeptical so we called TTR the next day to confirm Yes, we were on their reservation list. We also logged into the airline company's website and that appears to be working too. It pays to shop around. Tim and Brenda
