Great research Brewster. Now I'll have to take back what I said. I guess I would be accused of picking on the ultimate minority when I give you grief. After all you are the only liberal in Western Canada that I know of! Sadly this whole discussion leads back to the same place....we have had two bad Presidents in a row and the legislative branches with those Presidents have been partisan, bickering, and out of touch with America. Noone saw or was willing to see the mistakes made from the 1980's on and it has led us to where we are today.
I'm going to have to argue this one. Doctors in Canada can make a decent living. They do it all the time. But they can make a better wage in the US. This has been happening in ALL areas for years. Computer programming, engineering, entertainment, etc. It's got nothing to do with our health care system. Also, services are getting better here. At least in Ontario. See I work for a health care organization that provides free care to thousands of clients in at risk areas. We provide general heath care, diabetes care, counselling and are working on dental. All free. We also provide groups different things such as breastfeeding, Father's workshops, after school programs for kids, etc. Like The Practice..... but we're not as attractive.... *L*
I agree. Same with nurses. It is a difficult decision for most. Many would prefer to stay in Canada but are lured by higher earnings. The higher wages in the U.S. however, are paid by insurance policy holders, government and private citizens. Nothing is free. Notably, many Canadians seek elective health care in Mexico such as dental, optometry and cosmetic, all of which are far cheaper there.
See I like this. It's really nice that you all volunteer your time and the drug companies give out frre products. I mean since it's all free no one is paying for it right? And the only way for that to happen is you not getting paid. You are so generous to give your time away like that. You should feel really good about yourself. Jamie
I love people who really have no clue as to what reality is. Let me see where we can start here: He is treating people no differently then his predecesors. No matter which predecesor you choose. Change and honest reform? Let me see -they bailed out the banks, the banks paid back the money they owed the government and are paying higher bonuses then ever to their people. And they are laughing at the taxpayer for helping them out of a bind. This is the same guy who would not let the banks fail but bail them out with your money and mine. Affordable health care? Lets see if you do not choose health care you will pay a penalty. If you choose health care you get a tax credit for the higher premiums the insurance companies are now allowed to charge with reduced plans? What is affordable about this? Businesses have to give health care or pay a fine. Many small businesses cannot afford to pay for this health care, so many will go out of business rather then pay health care or other new taxes that this fair president imposed on them since he came into office over a year ago. The country is worse off indeed and this guy and his pals in the Congress are doing nothing to help but rather spend, spend and spend. He has a printing press remember? What happens when you print more money? You have inflation that is out of control. This country is the laughing stock of the world including its President. The Republican Congress hates him, the Generals all hate him and only put up with him because he is the Commander in Chielf. Otherwise they are laughing at him behind his back. The only one who spoke out againts him is out because he told the truth. He was replaced by another General that knows the truth and does not want to retire yet or is afraid to say the truth. The man is a total puppet of the liberal left. Even many in his party now wonder why they supported him over Hillary? She is not much better but she would have made a far better President then this joker. Just because he is the President does not mean we have to like him, adore him or agree with him. And of course in November he will lose the Congress behind him and Nancy Pelosi will lose her ever lasting and hateful smile for a change if the Botox can wear off. And in 2 years we will probably say good bye to this joker as well.
Obama is an Idiot! We are loseing jobs at an alarming rate and he still gets on tv claiming he has saved the economy. He hasn't ended any war instead US soldier are dieing faster than ever, July had the most US casualties in any given month. We are now on the verge of going to war with Korea. He plans on raising taxes across the board, I may end up paying 45% into taxes. Most of his appointees are radical, black panthers, and criminals. Health care reform????? What? Where? His plan for health care reform was a joke, hell it wasn't even his plan. He had no clue what was in the bill he was selling. All of his "state of the union adresses" contradicted what the bill said. That's why he was disrespected during one. He is a liar and a cheat. No one wants to be associated with him. If he backs anyone they are voted out of office. It has happened 4 times now. America is quickly realizeing his socialistr views and ideas are destroying america and putting us into bankruptcy. He hasn't help in a single area he said he would. For those who say " Because he is the president on the United States we should back him." Ask yourself honestly, when Bush was president, yes he is an idiot that makes up his on words, did you support him because "He was the President of the United States." No, that just doesn't make sense and sounds like you are just following the crowd and haven't made up your mind based on the facts. No one should just follow someone because they are in power, right is right and wrong is wrong. Be independant America needs change but not from Obama. I will vote against anyone that supports Obama or Obama supports. He is not my president and I don't respect him. We gave him a chance now let's give a woman a chance.

Let me throw some gas on the fire.. :aetsch011: Now, all of you that dislike Obama need to ask yourselves.. do you dislike him because of his policies or do you dislike him because he's a democrat and a "liberal"? (whatever that's supposed to mean these days since it gets used almost like a curse word most times). Before you answer.. keep in mind that the majority of his policies are a continuation of the Bush administration policies, so much so, that Democrats are angry with him for being too much like Bush... I swear it seems like some of you slept thru the previous 8 years before Obama... you don't have to like Obama or his policies, but its not as if he came into office and only then everything went to $hit.. IMHO he took charge of a runaway train and is trying to steer it away from the cliff... now whether or not he is having any success at turning things around we probably wont know for quite some time... the healthcare thing should have been put off IMO but its done so we'll all have to wait and see what real affect it has... everyone is bitching and moaning about it when nothing has even taken effect yet... and FYI the "small businesses" will get tax breaks to cover the healthcare requirements, or they'll just hire everyone as contract workers and avoid it all together.. so that argument is null as far as I'm concerned.. and the "its increasing our premiums" is a null argument too.. when have the insurance companies NOT increased their premiums? most people's are up several hundred percent from 10 years ago and that was before any healthcare bill.. and in theory the prices should stabilize and/or go down eventually once more people are covered... In any event.. I'm hoping that after November the Congress will no longer be a majority is both houses so that nothing will get done... after all most of what gets done involves spending more money so a "deadlocked" Congress is probably just what we need right now. I hope Obama sticks with his commitments to pull out of Iraq so some of that money can NOT be spent.. and hopefully Gen. Petraeus can get things in Afghanistan under control so we can start to pull out of there as well... and maybe, just maybe, we can get out of the two warzones we shouldn't be in anyway... IMHO we should have just relied on special forces to take care of the terrorists instead of going for an outright invasion of Afghanistan after 9/11, and as for Iraq we have no business there at all.. let the world handle the rouge states.. that's not our job so long as they don't attack us first, and even then full scale invasions end up costing us much more in the long run.
I dislike him because of his policies and associations. I believe he was only elected because of the color of his skin. I can't tell you how many times I was asked "Your black why aren't you going to vote for obama. I know I am it's about time we have a black president." My response was/is do you have any idea what he is about. The usual response is, it doesn't matter he is black. This type of ignorance is going to ruin this country. As a black man I am disappointed in racist attitude that many blacks have that lead to such a poor judgement and lack of poltical education before casting votes. I guess when you offer money to people they will vote for you. People before you vote do your own research. Every vote for a policy, bill or law is public record look up the politician and learn what they have voted for in the past. Know before you vote.
Well... I think I'll stay clear of the race issue since I don't want the thread to turn nasty(ier).. but I think the main reason Obama won was because of Sarah Palin... people had the thought of her becoming president (had McCain fallen ill) and that scared them off... had McCain picked Colin Powell as VP he would probably be president right now, although any Republican contender was facing a hard fight after eight years of the Bush administration... but that's another story... honestly I can't think of any presidential prospects during my lifetime that I can really say I liked... after all, in order to get your party's nomination you have to already be in bed with the devil and crooked enough to convince all the other politicians to support you. Edit: upon research it seems Colin Powell is an Obama supporter.... wiki "political views" section
