That's true - especially with the school. With the rent, if it were to go up 30% the landlord could potentially lose a good tenant, and with money scarce we might be hard to replace and the place end up sitting empty, making nothing. That would be my play anyway
One thing I've learned in my time here is: 90% of locals would rather their property/goods go unsold/unrented then let it go for anything less than they want or think its worth. I'd bet what a lot of landlords will (try to) do is change the contracts so the rent is to be paid in dollars, rather then pesos.
