It always depresses me that the Yaxchilan trannies have better figures than I do :S Not to say I have a horrible figure, just that... DANG those she-males have some hot legs!
I think I read it correctly.. hard to tell.. google translate makes it crazy.. The Zetas killed 2 smaller individual drug dealers who didn't pay up?
Yeh, translators are not that good--especially with slang words like "chapulines". They killed people not because they were working for another gang/mafia but because they were working independently.
Yeah right behind my house, just next to where I go bike riding every day, just to think I could have come across that, horrible thought! Think i'll be going a less quieter/safer route in future, like through Corales!!! Actually better thought, i'll stick to this residencial prison and just do laps of the road I know a few people on here don't seem really worried about the surge of gang violence in Cancun lately as opposed to it being mainly the other parts of Mexico but if that can happen this close to a main residential area then there is definetely a chance you may accidently come across something happening and whether your a gang member, drug dealer or innocent by passer, they aren't going to accept 'i know nothing' (in my best Manuel from Fawlty Towers voice) considering these people are willing to hang people from public bridges with signs on them. Just thinking about loud
Not trying to be a scaremonger or a reactionist by any means, but random street crime is increasing in areas outside "the bad part of town". A good friend was assaulted and robbed by a man with a knife on Sunday in SM 15 at 4:30 in the afternoon, right behind Sports City. Normally considered a "nice" area, crimes like this are on the rise. Three girls were assaulted with guns and knives (and beat pretty badly) on the weekend in SM 25 at the corner of Coba and Tankah. Just keep your eyes open, don't carry too many valuables and be aware of your surroundings. The days are gone where I feel safe walking around by myself, regardless of the gangs and organized crime. This is street crime that we see everywhere, every country, every city, so I am not saying that Cancun is dangerous, just that things are changing from "the good ole days".
I used to live right behind Sports City, and on the corner of Coba and Tankah... this is not good. :S Thanks for the heads up, CC!
The caseta still seems to be empty, the red tape is still up (I drive past everyday). I know the residents in 15 have been complaining about the lack of security recently, even before the murder/suicide. :S
The lack of jobs and income which drives a lot of petty crime may get some relief, this spring: Novedades said 18,000 plus tourists were booked into the HZ hotels, in spite of the recent cold and windy weather, a number up 50% from this time, last year.
When they dumped the police comandante's body on Ixcun (SM 32) a couple of years ago, they had a police car there for weeks 24-7. Not sure why they wanted to preserve the crime scene for so long. They could have built a house during that much time.
