When Away From The Resorts, Do You Carry Your Passport And Fmm With You?

Hi guys,

Stumbled upon an interesting thread on TripAdvisor about tourists being detained (briefly) for either not having their FMM (aka Mexican tourist card) or staying beyond the allotted timeframe.

I've never thought of carrying my passport or FMM with me when leaving the resort (going for walks, excursions, bus ride to La Isla, etc) so I'm curious to hear if anyone here has had similar experiences.

 

Nope. Stays in the room safe

 

We were there last week and never removed ours from the safe in our room.

 

we put ours in the room safe as soon as we unpack, and it stays it stays there until we pack to leave.

 

I put it in the safe when I arrive and take it out when I leave. We spent about 3 days up in the Hotel Zone last year and each night went out to the clubs and were fine.
