Everclear is a grain liquor that comes in 151 proof and 190 proof. Technically you are not supposed to do shots of it because it is so potent. It literally says on the bottle "not intended for consumption unless mixed with non-alcoholic beverage"
Everclear is the highest alcohol content liquor available. 95% by volume or 190 proof. People who don't know any better find it interesting to take shots of it but it's probably one of the stupidest things you can do. One shot of everclear is equivalent of 2-3 shots of vodka or rum so think about what that'll do to your body when you drink that fast. I've seen people pass out cold after a couple shots. Any more than that, you will probably need to get your stomach pumped.
Stupidest thing you can do? I suppose it could be. I mean people do doubles of vodka and rum so its not that horrible. It is fine in moderation and if you are aware of how strong it is.
It's hard to do it in moderation because of the high alcohol content, that's the problem. People who get excited about Everclear shots are always people who haven't done it or seen people done it enough. Why? Because if you have been around long enough, you'd know that once Everclear comes out, chances are, someone is going to get really sick. So more experienced people tend to stay away from that.
Again I disagree. I tend to be a fan of Everclear shots (which I have done several times) because it is less drinking time and less empty calories. Do I recommend them to people, not really, they are not for everyone, but wanting to do them doesn't make you naive. I think as long as you are careful with it it isn't something to fear.
Maybe you are the rare exception but personally I wouldn't want to take the chance with most of people. The risks and rewards just don't add up. If it's a party where I have to be responsible for cleaning up, Everclear is banned. LOL.
