I think if I was DJing, I would have daily features. Along with the reg playlist, which is so repetitive day and night, I would designate each afternoon to mix in a few genre songs each hour. So Metal Mondays would have a sprinkling of metal through-out the day. Wednesdays are Western Wednesdays with the same recipe using country tunes. Blues Tuesdays, you get the idea. Or it could be Motown Mondays, Or Wired Wednesdays. Find what works. I'd switch it up regularly and play different sets, so you don't always hear the same song or the biggest song from an artist. (i.e. Lynryd Skynryd had other songs) Mornings, I would feature various Countrys. There are the stand-by countries like one morning it would be Jamaica, the next Mexico, the next Canada, and so on. But if there was a big group of guests from a particular country like say Ireland, then I'd work in a morning of Irish tunes. So it is adjustable depending on guests nationality. I would feature an hour each morning to this. And I would play the whole songs always, not montages or mash ups. HATE THAT WHEN YOU JUST HEAR A SNIPPET AMONGST SNIPPETS. We luv TTR but cringe at the music. It is too bad, because tunes set the mood to most everything. There is soo much more they coukd be doing with the playlist. And a DJ's job can be hard, but, it is hard to find the crowd, and it changes everyday. The sexy pool can't be measured like a traditional club. ( keep the floor dancing) It takes a versatile master to work the Pool, and we have never seen one, in the DJ booth. It is a challenge, but too often the same old, is the way it is.
I like this whole post with the exception of the the morning being different countries, simply because Canada would be Nickelback and Beiber I kid my fellow Cannucks lol
don't know if they will be back this year, but last year they had a band @ patyos that played a lot of good stuff
My wife was a wedding dj and rock bar jock. Actually a long time ago she was an on-air dj with a metal show.
I'd luv to program music to this extravaganza. Off the top of my head I'd say. . . Zappa, BB King, Queen, Max Webster, ELP, Toby Keith, Willie Nelson, Red Peters, Jimmy Buffet, Steely Dan, Alice Cooper, Ozzy, Aldo Nova, David Wicox, The Tea Party, Eurythmics, Irish Rovers would all be in the playlist.
