Oh, and you wouldn't "bring" this - but I highly recommend a shellac manicure/pedicure so you don't have to worry about nail polish chips - worked GREAT for me, LOVED it! Got a brazilian wax 2 days before we left, that also was a smart thing to do!

Yes there is, definitely not walking distance, grab a taxi from the hotel, maybe take another couple with you also who is interested in picking up a few things from there as well to split the cost of the taxi and having a 2 extra people with you outside of the resort for extra safety if you're not comfortable going alone.
If you are planning on stopping by WalMart, you could always book your transfer through USA Transfers and pay the extra money for the ''WalMart Stop'' and that way you would have your stuff with you when you check in.
air freshner or candles as the rooms tend to get a bit musty smelling with the humidity and the the air conditioning running.
