This year was our second trip to TTR cancun, 3 trip too TTR. we found little change. did notice the food was a bit better taste wise, but as the op said, luke warm. Also noticed there was nothing like hip of beef ( for lack of a better description). last year they had different things in the buffet, as compared to this year.

Front desk staff, i willa gree leave a lot to be desired. sort of rude, not helpful at all, butthe rest of the staff throughout the resort more then make up for it.

    looking forward to 2014 already!

Oh, I don't know about things sliding downhill. We had a great time each of our trips in 2010 to 2012, though our trip this last February was sub-par, but that was because it was cold, especially for Cancun. We hit the Chinese only this time, which was excellent, and ate at Margaritas 2 times, excellent both times, the lobster place was sub-standard for lobster Stacia said. I've no clue.

People there were still the main thing, and they were great. Both guests and staff.

Our party atmosphere around the pool was really pretty dang good considering that there was perhaps a 12-knot wind coming off the water trying to freeze everyone and only succeeding with non-Canadians.

Theme parties turn out was low, also due to cold weather during our admittedly short stay.

The only thing I noticed in January that was significantly different was that they close up Paty O's at 2am, where it used to be open kind of all night. When they did a "last call" at 1:45am I was like - wtf? Am I at a bar in SoCal? People brought their iPods into Paty O's with speakers, and their own booze, and still partied late, but the bar completely closes at 2am and the DJ leaves as well. Different and really dumb, especially for us coming from Pacific time, it was only midnight for us - party fail!!

We are not premium members, but have always gotten fab room upgrades - we pay for them, but always get special deals thrown in - my husband is a genius at that kind of negotiation.

They really do need some help with a better DJ or music crew - they played the same music in January that they did in April - and they play the same 9 eighties songs at Paty O's in their 30 minute utterly predictable 80s set. It is so easy to change that with even just one person helping them - I would do it for free as a public service!!!

But as far as the people go, and the ambiance, and the Boobs Cruise - greatest time we have ever had!! The price is right, and we will come back. We learned what to expect, and what to let go as a trade off for what we like. If they charged any more for the rooms, we would be having a different conversation - it is bargain basement for a Cancun all-inclusive, and they earn all 3 stars, but no more than that - which is fine for the price, and the "party" (but seriously, don't close the bar at 2am anymore ...)

That sucks! I'm sorry to hear that. Was there for halloween (8th trip) n everything was great. my room was right next tio the buffet so some people might not like that but i loved it. Will be curious to hear future trip reports to see if there's any problems as well. Thanks for sharing. Negative trip reports are really im portant on here.

We were there one of the weeks that you were and I said in my TR how bad the food is to me. It would be difficult for us to stay there for two weeks. I think we ate for two straight days non-stop when we arrived home. We do not go to TTR for food, as I have said before. Had our best meal at Soggy Peso on Isla. We had a nice one at the Asian restaurant, as well.

Many days when Tom went out by 6 AM (or earlier) to get chairs, they were all already taken. We are the people who use our chairs around 8 AM to read, etc... We witnessed many days when a line of 8 or more chairs lining the pool were saved and not used until late afternoon or ever.

Since we are early risers, we walk around the resort and the beach. They must have cut back on staff, as it did not seem as clean as usual to me. Our room was cleaned daily very nicely and housekeeping was tipped each day as well. The service staff is excellent, as always and they work hard but I wonder if they cut their grounds staff. I know that the resort was at capacity. Maybe it is just too much to handle with the amount of staff they have?

The front desk has been rude and the time share people were unusually annoying this time, our 6th trip. I filled out the survey and commented about the time share personnel and the food. I also gave a huge shout out to the bartenders and housekeeping. They really work hard and it is nice to see the same people every year.

Many repeaters are very hard on those who say anything negative about our beloved resort. I agree that complaints should be forwarded and maybe things will return to the way they were in the past.

We could go to a five star resort but we choose TTR for the fun factor and the awesome friends we have made. Do I wish they would upgrade the food a bit? Sure but then I may go home gaining weight instead of shedding a couple pounds. There are always cucumbers, wheat toast and tomatoes. Of course, the cheeseburgers at night and if you ask, I heard you can get a hot dog!

A couple questions on some of the above added info...

Was the 2am closure a one night thing? Or every night u were there? Maybe they had staffing issues? Anyone else experienced an early patty'o closure like that?

Sounds like most of the food complaints are buffet related? We stick to Asian and Italian with a visit to seafood thrown in for dinner. Always loved those options. Buffet works for bfast. Pretty hard to mess up an omelet and bacon.

Not much above about the entertainment staff which is one of our primary concerns since we haven't been since chinos. I know no one can equal chinos but hopefully they are not too far behind?

Paty O's closed every night we were there at 2am, which was Jan 24-31. I was shocked, as our last three trips that was not the case. The resort was at capacity over the weekend we were there, and still the bar closed at 2am - really was weird. They didn't kick people out who were there after 2am, they just stopped playing their music and closed the bar, people brought out their own drinks from the room and their own speakers or boom boxes for music - and none of the staff stopped that.

I never thought the food was all that great - it is just ok ... and we don't go there for the food so whatever!
