Dang, this is disappointing to see. We haven't been for almost 2 years and had just talked about coming back.

One issue with them not maintaining the vibe we all like is there is no substitute near Cancun. What other resort near the US has topless pools and a large % of LS guests? It gives them the ability to let everything else go downhill and the people who enjoy topless adult resorts are stuck with it.

Thanks for steering us toward the TripAdvisor reviews, I (the Mr) hadn't looked at any since prior to our first trip in April 2014.

We've done 3 trips to the old, beloved, TTR and 3 to the current version with our most recent being in 2023 (or maybe 2022). From the first night we arrived we were hooked, this small town Mom & Dad Gone Bad had found their playground and tribe, and within a month of getting home we booked trip #2 for that Halloween. Damn, the adult fun we got away with at Paty-O's and the old pools (the sports pool foam party rocked!) would make for an interesting podcast. Looking back, our shenanigans during our first night ever at TTR would 100% get us kicked out of the place now. Sadly, a few days into our first trip to the "new and improved" TTR we began to realize a shift was underway. Many of the same crowd were there, most commenting that the vibe seemed different and not for the better. Our subsequent two trips tracked on that downward trend, from harder upsells to security wagging fingers at mere kissing, to the music being beyond predictable and clearing the dance floor. The only bright spot, musically, was that guest DJ from Calgary (straw cowboy hat, can't recall his name).

It's been written/said numerous times, if a group of savvy investors purchased an existing resort and managed it to mimic the "old TTR" vibe it would be both an instant and long-term success.
