Hello! My finance and I are planning a April 4, 2008 wedding on Isla Mujeres and it looks like our budget is going to end up narrowing our choices down to Ixchel beach hotel, and Avalon Reef Club. Ixchel has a better rating overall on TripAdvisor, but it also has only 21 reviews compared to over 200 for Avalon. (Also, I don't always give TripAdvisor reviewers the most credibility as they generally hate Blue Bay Getaway, and that's my favorite place on earth!) SO can anyone offer me advice as to which of these resorts would be best for a beach wedding, with 8 - 12 family members attending? ANY insight would be appreciated. The youngest family member attending will 15 if that has any bearing. I've heard Avalon's beach is gone and that it's dumpy and the all-inclusive sucks, but I would like as much feedback as possible - it's a big decision for us!!! THANKS in advance for your help! Thanks Don!! That would be great if you could find out what they thought of it...from what I hear on other sites, the beach is gone, the resort is dumpy and the AI sucks. I want to know if those reviewers are just picky or if it's true. (Can you believe Dustin actually decided to marry me? WOOOOHOOO!)
I know it's not on Isla but have you considered Blue Bay Club? We're getting married there Oct '08 and have talked to others that have done it there too... it's not too expensive either.

hillary! i agree, contact johnny, you know where to find him, lol, he's stayed in isla several times and im sure he knows about those hotels. Isla is a great choice for your wedding. away from the commercialism of cancun, not that i dont love cancun, but there's something special about isla!
