    Klaw - thanks

Klaw, thanks for the feedback and no feelings hurt.
I know some of the locals probably do get a lot of requests.

I actually heard there hasn't been much sea lice since the storm due to the coral reefs that were the closest to the beaches were damaged or detroyed with the hurricane. That is not good news for ecology, the ocean, the divers, but it is god news for any swimming at the beaches.

Hopefully the oceans, beaches adn all wildlife can start to rebuild after the most recent hurrican.

And let's hope and pray nothing like htis ever hits Cancun and paradise again.

    Enjoy!

Today is sunny with few lost white and puffy clouds hanging above the ocean, wind keeps blowing med to dtrong from the NE and ocean still rough.

We went snorkeling between Cancun and Isla Mujeres on Saturday and we had 6 people in our group and only my husband got Sea Lice in the upper part of his body.

    Hi,

I am going to Playa del Carmen in 1 week. Does this area tend to be wetter than Cancun as I have never been to Mexico before and the weather reports seem to be even worse for this resort than cancun.

Thanks for any help you can give

We got back from the Riu Yucatan which is about 5 miles south of Playa Del Carmen, and we had a little rain, but mostly sunny weather, even through the clouds. This area is about 60 miles south of Cancun.

We did a day trip to Xel-Ha (not to be missed) and it was really hot, not so much humid, but hot in the sun! Needed at least 30 SPF or more.

I really liked this area. Where are your staying? There is a complex called Playa Del Cara, with at least 4 Riu hotels and a shopping center in the resort area.

You will have a great time!

Thanks for that..We are staying at Xcaret but I was worried that if the weather wasn't good in that area that there wouldn't be much to do and as it seems to be continually forecast for thunderstorms. Therefore I thought we might be better off changing to a Cancun hotel if the weather is ususally better there.. not to worry we are being typical brits stressing over the weather when am sure we will have a fab time regardless of the downpours.

No problem - met a really great couple from Britian and they said it was definitely better there than at home.

Any bad day on vacation beats a good day at work!

    Great in Cancun

We just got back on Saturday from 7 nights in Cancun.
Weather was great and nothing like they reported on the national weather sites or weather.com.

I hear if there is any possibility of rain they will post it as rainy.
The first day was hot and humid (very). The next six days were perfect! mid to upper 80's, low humidty, constant breeze, on Friday it was overcast and a little cooler but it felt nice after the warm temps., but I would have preferred the sun out.
Saturday & Sunday were predicted rain and the morning we were leaving it started to sprinkle during breakfast on the outdoor patio.

Ocean were great, alittle rough at times but great, and there was no Sea Lice - hooray. Went to Hidden Worlds underground caves on the hottest day (Thursday) 94 in Cancun and 100 near Tulum. The caves were the perfect place to be. Cool, fresh water and about 74 degrees. The caves, caverns , formations and snorkeling were awesome and our guide was experienced and funny, great with kids and adults.
We did a zip line too! Highly recommend this tour for anyone 7 to 8 and older, and you need to be a good swimmer although you do wear a wetsuit and life jacket through the caverns, some free diving after the tour.

Also went to Xel Ha and had a lot of fun. Good snorkeling and groups of fish. Jumping off the cliffs along the floating river was the highlight for the kids in their teens. Us grownups joined in and also had a blast. We spent the entire day there with food & drinks included - arrange for the transportation with your booking and be on time or they will leave you.
Also try to get your last food or drink of the day no later than the last 30 minutes of closing time. And if you want to review your professional photos from the day - leave at least another 30 minutes to find them (havoc) review and purchase.

    Have fun and enjoy Cancun!

Oops, looks like this thread got neglected a little, I'll try and post updates more regularly.

My first day back in Cancun after 5 weeks away and we were greeted by hot and fine weather yesterday. Later that night it rained a couple of times quite heavily in several short bursts, but that is not unusual for this time of year with all the humidity. At least it saved me watering the plants.

Today we once again enjoyed clear blue skies all day and temps hit about 95F, right now at 9:45pm it's still 85F and probably wont drop much further.

Dont forget we have a live webcam which updates every second that shows the current Cancun sky conditions (daylight hours only) you can actually see the clouds moving.

    You can find it at:

Another boiling hot day today with temps in the shade of mid 90's.

I always take the temperature figure I post here in the shade but, just for fun, today I put the thermometer in direct sunlight to see how hot it would feel if you were by the pool or on the beach without shade.

It was 113.7F or 45.4C now that is hot!
