New tropical storm south of Puerto Rico Number 22 in 2005, new record. tropical depression twenty-five is south of Puerto Rico and will take hurrican-status tomorrow, named hurrican "Alpha". He will blow through Puerto Rico northward east of the bahamas and than northeastward to Bermuda. I think, that hurricane Wilma and hurrican Alpha can be one big stormsystem on the eastcoast of the USA. Stay care the rest of the day, the forecasters think, that Wilma leaves Yukatan the next night. There is no contact to Cozumel. The last news i here about two people dying, so stay care... God bless you...
Not Quite Hi Michael, That is Tropical Depression 25 and tomorrow it is expected to reach "ALPHA" status which means that in 24 hours it could become a "named" tropical event. There are 2 stages in the development of a system which is Beta and Alpha. When conditions are detected as I reported yesterday of Tropical Disturbances resulting in 4 areas from Wilma I told you about this one which Wilma was pulling into the southern Caribbean. Normally that depression without Wilma would have passed to the east of Puerto Rico but the warm waters and convection from Wilma pulled that depression into the caribbean instead. Wilma is quite a weather event and will be in the history books. Yes, unfortunately the US Navy rates development probabilites as "excellent". Sorry for that bad news. Kevin
whats sad is that there have been so many that they had to start using greek terms hense the alpha and im sure beta is jsut around the corner
Playa del Carmen destroyed? you can read on the newssites that Playa del Carmen is destroyed, the coast gets 10 meter-waves (30 feet) und in parts of Cancun the water reach up to 8 meters, in some hotels near the beach the water reach to the 3rd floor. 1 million people lost there home. But Wilma leaves yucatan slowly. Stay care the next hours. Than be careful with going through the streets about the rubbles (right word?) Sorry, my english is not so good!
I know and I know all of you will be relieved to hear that everyone is safe, it is very worrying and sad to think of all the poor people who live there not having a home to go back to. Sadly they won't even have the help that Katrina victims had. With all the devastion in Chiapas and surrounding areas recently, they struggled to pick up the pieces with basically not much help. Never before have I met such beautiful local people with so little who love life and love to please, I fell in love with Cancun and I pray that all will work out for everyone there, be it Mexican or otherwise. Stay strong and be safe.
For the first time since Wilma we had clear sky and soft wind from the NE, ocean has begin to go backwards but still not have its great colors back.
Gama has begun to introduce herself, cloudy day, high humidity, showers at night, high seas all day plus the lagoon getting out the water what cause us (Km 2 to 8) dark green ocean. Strong wind from the NE
After some showers last night, the sky is overcast, the ocean is a little rough and temp got down thanks to the fresh cold wind 73°
Ana sweetie, it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good to be getting your wonderful reports again!!! We are all so glad that you and your family came thru ok...we were worried sick about you!!
