hello.....I'm new to the board.....I'm headed to Moon Palace OCT 5-11 ((and will getting married OCT 8th)) anyways i've been hearing about some tropical wave that may or may not turn into something more. I'm starting to get worried and wanted to know whats the 411 on this in cancun??Thanks
Oct 1, 9:30 am Looks as if there is quite a storm brewing off the coast. The weather channel says it is going to be raining extremely hard for the next 24 to 36 hours.....Yuck! Hope it blows over soon! Where's the sun?
Maybe we should move and vacation in Cincinatti! The storm off the yucatan coast has just been upgraded to a Tropical Depression.....yikes Winds are expected to reach 30-40 mph over the next few hours. Latest estimates are that the storm will continue to batter the peninsula for the next 48 hours..... now moving N/NW @ 9mph. So it is definately going to be indoor weather for the next few days. TIME TO GET YOUR BEER GOGGLES ON!!!
Yes, weather dosn´t look good for us, it has been raining in Cancun at the HZ since the morning with strong intermitent wind gusts, you can see the up dates of troptical depression 20 just forming in Cancun at: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ Bad day to make the annual cancun marathon, it began 30 minutes ago an the HZ is going to be closed until 9 or 10 PM, they left open one line from wet´n wild to downtown. No acces from DT to HZ.
AT 4 PM CDT...2100Z...THE POORLY-DEFINED CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION TWENTY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 19.2 NORTH... LONGITUDE 86.5 WEST OR ABOUT 95 MILES... 155 KM... SOUTHEAST OF TULUM MEXICO AND ABOUT 95 MILES... 150 KM...SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF COZUMEL MEXICO. THE DEPRESSION DRIFTING WEST-NORTHWESTWARD... BUT A FASTER MOTION TOWARD THE WEST OR WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 6 MPH...9 KM/HR... IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN LATER TONIGHT AND CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS. HOWEVER... THE DEPRESSION IS STILL IN THE FORMATIVE STAGE... SO SOME ERRATIC MOTION MAY OCCUR. ON THE FORECAST TRACK... THIS SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO MAKE LANDFALL ALONG THE EASTERN COAST OF THE YUCATAN PENINSULA LATER TONIGHT OR EARLY SUNDAY. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 35 MPH... 55 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST BEFORE LANDFALL OCCURS... AND THE DEPRESSION COULD BECOME A TROPICAL STORM LATER TODAY OR TONIGHT.
