I'll have to look at this - I was intending to migrate the Desire boards to phpbbb3 sometime in the near future, for me it's all about easy Wayne
I've never been on the admin end of phpbb3 but as a user at other boards I havent really liked the format - for that reason I dont really like the new Vbulletin 4 so much either. The main thing for me was to update the software and include all the modern day features but not have it appear too alien to users. The back end of vbulletin 3 is hugely complex and takes some getting used to, but once you do there are so many configurable options plus so many free mods and hacks available that you can do pretty much anything you want to it and more you havent even thought of yet. The conversion was a pain, and their support is little to no use in my experience but I do have a great hosting company who helped me. I've found there have been fewer problems once the conversion was complete than I anticipated. It's quite a relief, I've planned this for 3 years or so but been reluctant to carry it out in case it all went tits up. The old board was 7 years old and a little like a 7 year old car that's never been serviced. Slow, tired, lacking modern day options and liable to break down at some point. This is like driving a brand new Mercedes! Let me know if you ever need any help.
Steve - the Desire board is running on phpbb2 right now - I wrote the setup of it over a long weekend when Original Resorts canceled their forums - phpbb2 is unfortunately very rigid and inflexible but very robust and easy to admin and maintain. I built a "shadow" board using phpbb3 about 8 months ago and the only thing holding me back at this point is the migration challenge - I haven't heard of a single PHP2 to PHP3 success story, some part(s) of the board db seems to either fail on the export or the import. I'm really amazed at how cleanly you manged the transition - Bravo ! I'm sure it wasn't without considerable stomach acid production I appreciate the offer and will keep it mind, thx
