We have been hearing horrible things about the water in Mexico! Is the water at Temptation ok to drink? What about the ice in the mixed drinks? We want our trip to be be great without getting sick! Any suggestions?
First of all the ice for drinks is purified, you can always tell purified ice as it has a hole through the middle of it. The tap water in the rooms has also been treated by an onsite treatment plant and is safe to drink. However, it does have minerals and a taste that you might not be used to at home. So, I wouldnt drink a glass full of it or make a coffee but using it for brushing your teeth etc is fine. Certainly you shouldnt be scared of it. Downtown the bars and restaurants use the same purified water for drinks but domestic supply and water from taps in public bathrooms etc is not treated so you need to exercise more caution there. Best thing to do is take or buy a few small water bottles and fill them up with the purified water from the water dispensers that are around the hotel.
