Of course they "Devalued" our contract . When we signed our contract we had 3 wks. per year , after they did thier number on it they said we could come back 3 wks in 25 years free all inclusive . Doesn't sound like to me what we bought !!! When we signed our contract we could use 240,000 pts. per year , after they "devalued" our contract we can only use 40,000 pts. per year . Now mind you this isn't RCI this is "Premier" . Oh , and we get this great deal if and only if we give Premier $4000 :) Isn't that nice of them

It's obivious they're in the wrong with all this. Problem is no one can force them to do anything except the court of law.

Why do think RCI sent out there waiver? That wasn't sent out or drafted by some $10 an hour employee. The legal department at RCI handled that. They know there is problem with it and are trying to distance themselves as much as they can legally from it.

I say lawyer up and go after RCI since there in the states. At that point RCI is going to have to a make choice. Either they fight this with there money and in the end become responsable for the end results weather its good or bad. Or at some point Premier will be dragged into the lawsuit and RCI either stands with them or throws them under the bus. By filing against RCI in the states and if Premier needs to be represented they will be required by court to appear. If they fail to appear chances are pretty good the case is in the bag for the members. At that point I would assume the judgement would be money paid back in full or prorated and RCI would have to fork the bill over. If they want Premier to help pay then they can deal with that.

Spend sometime over at tug1.org forums. Hardcore timeshare owners over there. I'm sure there is issues with lawsuits and RCI over there if you do a search. Either way a wealth of information on RCI and its practices can be found. Won't surprise me if you can find a lawyer that has delt with RCI already.

OK...I hate to be rude but 69 pages and two years is an awful lot to sort through. We are members but just signed up when we were at Desire in 2009.

Can anyone give me a condensed version of what is going on here? Pretty please!!!

People bought memberships with millions of points to use with RCI (ie: 5 million pts). You could use these points for various things through RCI like airfare. Then all of a sudden they put a 60K a year limit on the points. Well you can hardly do anything with 60K. Not even one plane ticket. So as you can see you could never use the points you paid for in a lifetime. So now what you bought has been devalued down to nothing.

Next kicker was this cap was placed on Premier members only. Everyone else in RCI was still free to use points the way they see fit. If you had friend with points through a different resort or whatever they weren't effected by any point cap.

In the end each side blames each other and no one wants to help you.

    Empyrean;

Start reading page 35 or 36. We bought the timeshare in 2006, paid the amount we owe them, keep our contract, but Premier (TTR, Desire) do not.

    THanks for the clarifications.

So these past contracts has literally millions of points to them and you could use as many as you like at any time every year...then they suddenly capped them at a max of 60,000 per year regardless of what your contracts previously stated?

Our contract was for 40,000 points per year so this does not affect us - however the concern is how can they get away with changing the terms written into the contract after it's signed? What else might they try to change later?

So naturally I am interested in following what's happening. Thanks for filling me in!

It may effect you it you want to use you points to fly, or rent a car, or buy tickets to a theme park, or stay in a resort outside RCI timeshare group. because now RCI has limited all memers to a 1/3 of what they get a year on point partners. That would mean you could only use about 13,333 points for points parnters.. The way thing are now why change contracts at all? And if I did I would get every thing they told me in writing, even if it took 2 days of my vacation. Terry

Emailed Susan tonight, got a reply. her parents are not well and she just cant take the time to keep up with what is going on here. I emailed her to ask about Profeco, she thinks that what really helped her with her new contract. She said the resort was fined twice for not showing up. And if we all filed a complaint the fines might make them listen at last. I know the address, has got to be back on these pages somewhere. And I dont think the resort is unsueable because they are in Mexico, after all 80 percent of us paid money to a US bank, that makes them doing business in the US, would mean us puting out some cash though. And not everyone got millions of points. That's how premier de-valued their points with RCI. We paid $10,000 for 500 nights at any Original resort. The nights could be converted to points and used through RCI for other resorts, airfare, etc.

A night is worth about 2600 points, so we got about 1,300,00 potential points. That's about 130 points for $1.00. The airfare ran about 60,000 points or $461.00 per person plus the $49.00 RCI fee makes it about $1,000 for a roundtrip for 2 people. Not a great deal, but there are(were) some other perks.

Since they, RCI, put a limit on the points we can now get 1 airfare to Cancun -60,000 points, plus booking fee $49.00 plus annual RCI membership fee $100.00 total ticket cost $600.00+

After that we have to purchase another ticket over the counter and pay the inflated daily all-inclusive rate .

SO now my great vacation package to Cancun:

1 airfare points and cash $600.00
1 airfare over the counter $750.00 (optomistic here)
    7 nights @ $80.00 X2 = $1120.00

Total 'cost' of a vacation: over $2,400

    that sucks

When they -premier- sold the mega contracts with 40+million points RCI put the limit on ALL contracts in a certain date range. That screwed us over royally.

K... I'll make you even more sick or pissed....

    Airfare for 2 = $0.00 (70,000 United miles)
Hotel Room - run of the house - $164.00 per night X 15 nights - $2,460 including R/T transportation from the airport to Temptation (AI fee is $84 pp/per night during that time)

Total cost of our May trip for 15 nights for 2 = $2,460
