That may work for some, But I really don't think they care. They just won't let you come. Others like myself that paid in full up front are just screwed.

Well that is the mystery behind the curtain. Each side says the other is to blame. For every member that has Premier telling them its RCI doing it you have another member who was told by RCI that Premier is doing it.

Here is my take after all this info. that his been brought to the surface over the last few months. At some point RCI and Premier had to have signed some type of contract between the two parties. Anytime the principles of the program changes I'm sure the contract needs to change and be agreed upon by both parties (Premier has gone through about 5 or 6 different programs during the years). Not every RCI timeshare works the same so they(RCI) have many different contracts out there for the thousands of resorts they sell through. So my take is both are to blame. At some point they had to both agree to this limit. If not then here are the questions I'd be asking.......

    To Premier.....
    1. Why would you continue to sell something that is almost useless?
    2. You have thousands of members so why won't you stand up for your members and demand RCI to lift the 60K or do a lawsuit against them for breach of contract?
3.) Why take the PR hit if this has nothing to do with you?? Why won't you just push the issue to the members and have them do your dirty work(help you) and voice off to RCI.
4.) If you both agreed to this then why not make the limit at least 125K so it is usefull?? We all know the points to fly are going to increase each year. You think 60K is bad now what about 5 years when it takes 150k or whatever to fly. Now your points are really worthless.

    To RCI....
1.) Why not flat out say Premier did this? (PR hit on RCI)
2.) Why not stand up for your product and tell Premier they can't do this as it is unethical and limits your members usefullness of the their contract to next to nothing?

This is big business and to think just one party one day said screw you here is a 60K limit and is getting away with it I think is just unrealistic. I find it hard to believe if this all fell in the lap of RCI that Orginal Resorts would not be fighting a legal battle for its members. Its bad business not to. If you owned the resort would you, of course you would. So I don't buy that its just one side who did this. You can't just change the rules of the contract to the point of making the contract worthless. Both parties agreed to this 60K ban is really the only logical thing.

    Nick and Renee

P.S.: Does anyone know how the inner workings of these points work? I mean RCI sells hundreds of timeshares a day around the world at various price points. Most use the point system. So they could be selling 100's of millions of points each day. When you sign a contract for lets say 20K the resort has to get the biggest piece of that pie and then RCI gets there cut. Well lets say 5K goes to RCI and you get a 4 million points to use. To me the math doesn't seem to work and RCI would be broke in no time. So I believe that the resort must have to pay a small amount for each point used by its members. Whatever that is who knows. Maybe 20 cents on the dollar. Which would make sense that many of us have been told that Premier members are using to many points. In other words us Premier membrs are using more points each month then what Premier maybe ever thought they would have to pay out go RCI. Any long time member or long time repeat guest of the resort knows the owners are very pro active on saving money (I guess that is the nicest way to put it).

Hola, There was a loop in their contract that allowed RCI to change it and I think a law suit is possible. Terry

There is where I think the problem lies....RCI probably is putting the limit on because they feel they are not being reimbursed fairly for the number of points premier members are using.
After doing some math we have enough time to use all of our points but I am doubting financially it will be smart to do so. Paying $225 a year for 2 flights out of Green Bay made sense . Paying that much for one ticket and still paying for a second ticket really does not when you add the upfront cost of buying into the package. We have 2 years left and will find a way to use each and every one of those points, but it sure did not turn out to be the bargain we initially thought.

I think part of the mystery may be that Wyndham acquired RCI. After that it seems things started changing. The first change I saw was with their credit cards. You were able to accumulate so many points and exchange them for a plane ticket. After Wyndham they just give discounts for your CC points on an inflated ticket price so you essentially get nothing. Also I sat through a Wyndham time share sales pitch and they pretty much ran down RCI ( why, I don't know, if they own them ) . They said they acquired RCI and Wyndham can travel to RCI resorts. But RCI may not ever get to come to HI because Wyndham folks got first choice. ( however, we and our friends have been there 3 times total of 6 weeks ) anyway they had many tiers of membership regular, VIP , and Presidential or something like that..... with confusing perks with each more expensive level...false claims about maintenance fees etc ( I talked with Wyndham members there afterwords who were very dissatisfied with Wyndham's shenanigans) I don't know but I based on the timing of all this iI think Wyndham bought RCI and is squeezing profits

Premier I think would transfer the points if RCI would let them...we can still use all we want for resort trades.... Premier could then sell more points as they were used up ? That was our plan ( to buy more ) for future travel... Premier though, isn't blameless , like you said they had to have signed an agreement and we all know about the all inclusive fees for members.... and disappearing perks

Wyndham has owned RCI for over 2 years. I became a Premier member Jan 2007 and had no problems with RCI until this past May. I still think the problem lies with Original Resorts (Premier) and not RCI or Wyndham.
    From Wikipedia:
Wyndham Worldwide (NYSE: WYN) is the holding company for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Group RCI and other lodging brands. It was spun off from Cendant Corporation in July 2006.

I believe what someone had posted earlier that it was an agreed apon deal that Premier and RCI came up with (to settle a dispute between them IMO ) maybe to keep from paying out so much money. Doesn't really matter , what matters is we are all getting screwed in the scheme of things . Since Premier sold us our srewing then Premier is who deserves our attention unless they can prove that RCI is the culprit or they come up with a plan to get rid of RCI . I don't think that will happen 'cause they need RCI to help fill rooms and bring in fresh meat so they can screw more people out of thier hard earned money.

Just out of curiosity has anyone been back this year as a member. I was wondering how you were treated as compared to before all this stuff started. What kind of rooms were you given. Were you offered a choice of rooms? Were they (rooms) alot better then previous years. Did you acutally get better liquior, restuarant reservation access etc, over the average travelocity reserver? Did they try to to sell you (an upgrade). Just curious if the members are getting ANYTHING they paid for?

125, I was there in May with my step daughter......I got the section D block rooms, right outside the sexy pool. I could go to the premier check in and make my reservations for dinner......upgraded liquor I dont think exists anymore since they upgraded the resort. In all fairness I drink rum, and I would ask for baccardi....but dont think it was reserved for premier memebers only. I got a coupon for one lobster dinner. They left wine in my room as a welcome.

I do feel I got some pref treatment when I went to book the booze cruise on Friday when we got there....Victor told me it was all full (at 3PM) and then Sergio says that "he found some room!" and let us go. I dont really think they would have let anyone.....at least let me dream!!!
they do have the loungers by the beach with bar service for premier members only, was never there though, to far from the sexy pool!!
I did get some new fluffy orange towels that I was told were for premier members only....by the time we get there next week I am sure they will be as scratchy as the blue and white stripped ones.
