We hop on the city bus every trip....what an adventure!!!! Unfortunately, I can't remember what the bus # is. Safe, cheap and another way to experience the culture. Cheers ;)

I think that when we got a taxi to Walmart, they waited and drove us back to TTR for around $20-30.

If you're looking to buy Viagra (or generic equivalent), there are plenty of online options available at way better prices. Might take a week or 2 but I get mine for less than $2/pill in the US.

Steve advised me to book the Walmart stop through USA Transfers. Said to book ahead of time so driver en route from airport to TTR would have time. He said the stop at Walmart is $30 extra. I messaged USA Transfers, and here's what I got in response:

"We offer the stop at the closest store to your hotel for $30usd up to 1hr. This service needs to be reserved to schedule the driver accordingly. Yes, we can do Walmart downtown Cancun (or Costco) no problem, however, the price will change:

✓ Cancun, Puerto Juarez, Punta Sam hotels will be $60usd the first hour, and $30usd any additional hour.

✓ Riviera Maya hotels is $90usd the first hour, and $30usd any additional hour

Let us know what option is best for you to add it to your order."

So...$60 to stop at Walmart en route from airport to TTR? Too expensive for me. Am I missing something here?

And the vans have GPS tracking so you can no longer entice your driver to make the Costco or WalMart stop.
So it sounds like a money grab but is really $15/15 minutes but all or nothing though.

Thet might offer a quick stop at a gas station/Europea on the way in the same side of the street.

Take the bus for Walmart as part of your vaca adventure and Cancun experience.

For liquor there are 2 places across the street a bit highly priced...but you save the extortion stop price and the fun time on the bus!

To be fair, I'm not sure I "advised" you. I think you said you wanted to and I suggested how you could via your transfer with USA.

The $30 stop is at Superama, it's a mini Walmart but it is owned by Walmart. It's still big but not as big as the huge Walmart that sells everything from car tires to clothes to fishing tackle and refrigerators. Also has a food court.

Superama sells just groceries, alcohol and has a pharmacy. It is right by a Europea if you need a larger selection of alcohol. It is located just off the road from the airport - about half a mile from my house actually. So, it's on route to TTR and not really out of the way.

The huge Walmart is a bit of a trek off the route to Temptation from the airport. The checkout lines are longer, the parking more difficult, there's more traffic and lots of stop lights.

USA charge extra because while a vehicle is negotiating traffic and waiting for you to do your shop it could be somewhere else doing an airport pick up or drop off. It's idle time for them - the driver has to sit around waiting.

All depends on what you want to buy. A few beers or red bull, then ask them for a 5 minute stop at a Go Mart or Oxxo (convenience stores) for no extra charge, and prices half of across the street from TTR. Any medication ask them to stop at a Farmacia, again no charge. These kind of stops don't need to be booked in advance.

If you want a bigger shop for food and wider choice of alcohol Superama/Europea is fine. For our day-to-day living here our local Superama has everything we need. We hardly ever go to the big Walmart.

If you really do want to visit the big Walmart then I'd suggest the bus (Number R1) there and a taxi back. Will probably cost about $15, or taxi both ways for $30. But will also take up maybe 3 hours of your day.

I asked for advice and you gave it to me. Not looking to argue over semantics, just to point out that there seems to be a misconception out there, that--for $30--USA Transfers will stop at Wal-Mart en route from the airport to TTR. I think most people consider Wal-Mart to be the big, low-priced department store selling everything from clothing to pharmacy to liquor to fishing to food, not something smaller. So it's good to know that the stop is at Superama, not a regular Wal-Mart, but that the Superama is a scaled-down Wal-Mart with everything the traveler would likely be searching for. Thanks so much for clearing this up and for always being so willing to give us your thoughts and advice. You're a huge help to us.

It's not everything a traveler would look for, nor is that was Steve said. It a grocery store. They have a hot food section (think fried chicken) and a pharmacy. It is comparable to a small grocery store. Around us this store is called Walmart Neighborhood Market. They don't sell other stuff like swim suits, clothing, hats, sandals, beach stuff (chairs, toys, etc), luggage, etc. There might be a small selection of some of the items, but it is a grocery store.

Made a trip there years ago after the airline lost a suitcase and needed to replace some necessities...but our time at Temptation is precious, so we bring everything with us so we won’t need to waste precious Sexy Pool time shopping at a Walmart!!
