They are all over all of the hotels now. One guy that looked like security got in front of me and tried to stop me, but I just kept walking. I just flat out ignored them like panhandlers.
us either !!! where did that number come from Donald... maybe if you went to a presentation then you would know what your talking about..
It was a comical remark to the person I was replying too,,( it was a quaote of a quate , you have to go back ) I know of people that have paid that ,,or as little as 6 or 7 for a basic package. I have no quames with memberships , only with people that misrepresent/exaggerate the benefits ( state how little their paying for rooms or how they get free this and that , but don't include their initial investment in their calculation.) It works for some and not for others, just have to read the stories on here pro and con, or go to a presentation, but I trust people on here more.
We have been going to TTR for the last 6 years and in the second trip we listened to the presentation. At that time it was not for us because our plans were to visit TTR more often than once a year and the plans offered were once a year for a week. When the plans changed to number of days, we purchased but talked with a number of members and got the low down on what to ask for and what was the lowest price. Due to the reduced costs to stay, we are able to visit TTR 25-30 days a year now. Anything that makes it easier to get to the craziness more often is worth it to us. If you are interested in becoming a member then be clear on what you want from it and talk to members on what they paid. Get the name of the lowest contract signed and they will honor that price. We keep track of our expenses for all of our 17 trips and it has reduced our cost to 66% of what we would pay with out the membership. Means more days at TTR for us. The perks that come along with membership are a bonus, especially the Temptation yacht. If you ever have the chance to take it out, don't pass it up!
Of course there isn't anything wrong with a Visio. The pictures are both about the same. That's my point. I wanted to get the Sony/Premier after I carefully read the whole contract and I decided I liked it and I bought it. Other people have decided that it wasn't for them. It was the correct decision for me and it was the correct decision for them. We both end up at the same resort when we go back. We both have a great time.
Last year was our 9th trip, we took a 5 year detour to Cozumel so I could dive. After checking in they pointed out the timeshare guy to visit with us. As the wife "suddenly need to run to the restroom", I told him 9 trips going back to the BlueBay days we were not interested. He asked why not and I told him we just buy our vacation and go. He said "goodby" as the wife magically appeared from the restroom.
Marshe said, "Umm....what is the bad part of this again?" I "think" they see the initial big investment as the "bad part." But, that being said...Dammit.... now I feel like an idiot (referring to Marshe's entire post above about the $100 to attend the drink session with the sales people... I TOTALLY should ahve thought of that! OK, Aiesha, you and Stacia can have your dancer-girl talk while I'm making money shooting the shit with Luis. Bam! problem handled! And, responding to Dynamite now, I'd say that, from our point of view (Stacia & I's, since we like to go different places other than TTR BUT also like to go to TTR at least 2x per year) what made it worth the money for us was the killer (sometimes as much as 90% off, I'm not kidding) off of other premier places to visit. Tht's where we really see actual dollars coming back into our pocket. Sure, we could simply not travel (... right... you don't know my wife), but since we do, and I KNOW we are going to do it, and when, man... I can make a killing just saving money. The first example is taken directly from what Luis used to close me (I'll admit it, he losed me - pro). Luis: "Are you planning any other trips this year?" (It was April) J: "As a matter of fact, yes. I just got done setting up a trip for Stacia, I and our daughter and her bf to go to Maui." Luis: "OK, how much did that cost, witht he various pieces? How did you do it?" J: "Well, I used my discount stuff form United to get the flights at a reduced rate for the dates Stacia could take vacation, saved some money there. And, I researched places to stay, and bargain hunted using a combination of Booking.com and Trip Advisor.com to find both an affordable place with availability and one that at least is clean and nice, close to the stuff we want to do." Luis: "OK, how much did it cost?" J: *cringing* "Damn trip is going to cost us about ten grand." Stacia: "What? Holy shit! Really?" J: "Yep." Luis: "OK, let's see. Your flights are your flights, so that'll stay the same." He pulls over the iPad and pulls up his RCI app, "Let's see what's available on Maui right now, for the time frame when you're going." Poking at the iPad commences. "OK, here's another place very similar to the one you are booking. How much was the one you got per night?" J: "Damn rooms are $450 a night and up. Hard to get cheaper on Maui unless you go very... uh... downstream, and Stacia won't go for that." Luis: "So, $450 times 2 rooms, so that's $900 a night?" J: "yep" Luis: "Well, this place right here you could get a 2 bedroom townhouse with full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and access tot the same amenities that the hotel you were looking at was offering, but this is only $500 for the week. How much would that save you?" J: "Shit." In that one trip, already booked, having the membership at TTR would have saved us almost 5 grand. It DID actually save us that same 5 grand this past year when I gifted our friends with a trip for a celebration of their anniversary when they asked us to do something with them. So, if you assume that we paid the aforementioned $25K (we didn't, please. Negotiate, people), and that took place in 2012, I'm "down" $25K to Original Resorts, sure. But, that next Feb. of 2013, I scored our first big savings on a trip to St. Martin & St. Barth's. I didn't trade away any TTR weeks, and still used the membership to save ~$3k and change on that trip, Which I Would Have Gone Anyway. Then, in 2014 we went again to St. Martin (Orient Beach is cool, y'all!, staying at on the island and using a week to trade this time, and damn near stayed for free (not quite, costs us $450 for the week) which was about what it usually costs a night, so firgure that up... 6x$450 is $2,700! Nice! Then, the thing to Maui, so that's $5Kish. So, drop the $25K in 2012, and save real cash I would have spent of ~11K so far.... this is working for me, let me tell you. But, if you don't travel much, or if you only go to TTR, then I doubt that just having white towels and having the servers come out to you rather than you going to them would be worth it. That Members Deck thing, though... that's the shiznit! I don't have to get involved AT ALL witht he people trying to save chairs thing at all anymore and I believe that to be Awesome.
Todd and I bought a timeshare with another group long before discovering TTR. We've heard they will take over previous timeshares to get you to convert to TTR. We would love to work this out (IF the renovations don't turn it into a stuffy, boring resort!). Anyone have any experience with something like this?
No personal experience, but know of 2 separate instances whereby the ppl were extremely happy with arrangements and glad to be rid of previous timeshare (s). I can agree with you on the fact that OR will work with you, to make you happy, if you really want to replace and dispose of it. if you want a contact person to discuss preliminary questions beforehand and not waste precious vacation time...feel free to pm me As far as the boring stuffy part post reno....I have no idea....but highly doubt the template will be altered drastically
