I have to be honest, hearing every time someone brings up an issue oh try a different month and it will be better is getting kinda annoying. Prices were actually higher this year than last, and we had no issues last year. If I followed what I read from die hard repeaters about oh try a different month and you will have a better time, I'd have about 6 weeks, and not 6 straight weeks, of the year to go. We work hard and pay good money for our vacation, and we have reasons to choose our dates and times to go. At some point the issue has to go to TTR quality in general declining (all while prices continue to rise) and not make excuses. The food wasn't as good, the staff wasn't as good, the rooms/property still sucked with no updates and broken/run down stuff everywhere (condition far worse than last year), the entertainment wasn't as good, and the atmosphere wasn't as good. And, we are not the only ones that felt this. Drinks were in consistent, but some days they were very good and very strong and they did always taste good. However, on a better note they did change the cups at the bars and they are double the size as last year. Oh and as far as entertainment...I love the entertainment staff. Amy, Paloma, Nathan, and Migual (spelling?) are awesome. They do try to get everyone to have a great time. I think they are over worked and don't get the support they desire and need from management. When I say entertainment was lacking this year, it was not at any fault of theirs. A lot of it had to do with the atmosphere and environment and the other issues I discussed in my thread. Also, Sara69 leaving did not impact our trip on the entertainment side negatively, if anything it was for the better. We found her a bit rude and obnoxious. Now of course we wish her the best, but I don't want anyone to use her leaving as another excuse.
We have been hearing a lot of negative coming from TTR this year which is a big part of why we didn't book, plus we've been too many times in the past 3 years it's become the same old party every day every vacation. A lot needs to change there
Sorry u feel that way. Not sure you understood what I was saying. But reality is some weeks are better than others and room rates impact everything. Crowd, staff, service etc. You went on a cheaper week, obviously the resort is not in championship mode, after Xmas/ NYE 100% occupancy intensity. As I said, we just left prolly a week before you arrived. And yes the PatYos premiere seating thing is a issue. But the rest of what you say was not happening when we were there. But Christmas/Nye is peak rates high season. And as such Less chance of irritants. I was just trying to advise Don and Olga. Didn't realize you were goin to take exception to my suggestions
One thing I did forget to mention is that on our way out on Monday morning while waiting for our shuttle...we had the pleasure of meeting the General Manager as he walked into the hotel and we did speak to him about some of the issues...if I remember correctly his name was Nick...he was not aware of everything we told him, he thanked us for letting him know and told us that he was going to address the issues we talked about because he too could see that it is a problem. Again if anything comes from that who knows
That is excellent that you were able to speak to Nicolas Santos. He is proactive and is very passionate about TTR. He cares and wants to know feedback. I am sure he will make some changes after hearing your issues, especially in regards to the premiere seating at PatyOs. In the future ask to speak to him if you have an esculating or unacceptable issue. Forgot to ask earliar, was Shawn still sick when you left? That guy is a character and goes at pretty hard.
Being one of those "snooty" members I think the hotel should NOT have made the upper area a members only area...hold it just kidding...we are not snooty, lol. Really bugs me when people think they are better than someone else and especially over the colour of a wrist F'ing band. Seriously though, I get that the hotel wants / needs to offer members certain amenities but a member area at PatyO's is NOT a good idea at all. Sorry to read that you ran in to someone who thought they had an entitlement to be rude and disrespectful. If they had a problem with where you were it was not their place to do anything about it. Even more so since the night manager sat you there. I truly believe all of us can play nice in the TTR sandbox and for the most part everyone does but some people's children just don't get it. Scott
Thanks for the trip report. Doesn't matter if overall it's good or bad. As long as it's a genuine account of experiences then it's welcome. We have had plenty of people stay at TTR recently but not many trip reports, which is a bit of a shame. Feel free to go ahead. Don't worry about the 'lynch mob' they mostly hang out in the GOV forum these days
