membership / timeshare's are nice but yes you are always putting some $$ into them you have yr purchase $$ of yr contract and depending on that you have your yearly maintenance fee and if you have points you have to pay to roll over unused points for the next year, if you use points at another resort you have to pay a transfer fee. and things are always changing so you have to stay on top of that also.
Well this discussion went off the rails pretty quickly didn't it? I think the OP was stating that in their opinion the resort is only worth X and because they are charging X+Y (let's call it Z) he doesn't think it worth it and they should charge less especially the closer you get to booking. Simple economics would suggest that the number of people willing to pay Z make this argument redundant but it's an interesting one to consider. Also the comment that "we" are the reason Temptation rocks and "we" are the party is an fascinating one. Temptation is the only place that allows us to act like us, if they were removed from the equation would another resort take its place? I'm not sure, I've sat at the sexy pool on more than one occasion wondering if they caught lightening in a bottle. Hard to decide and the answer usually varies with the amount of alcohol in my system at the time. Suggesting prices of anything should get less the closer you get to a certain date is also fraught with a lot of variables you have to factor in. If I have 100 widgets to sell by a certain date my pricing would depend on things like historical averages. March - May are almost at or close to capacity for example, I would be less likely to worry about selling out and increase prices as the date approached whereas perhaps October or November I'd be dropping prices as the date closed. If I've got 20 widgets left close to the sell by date I might drop the price as demand is obviously low, if I've got 2 or 3 widgets left then chances are I've already covered my margins and anything else is gravy, demand is high, supply low, they're now twice the price. Other factors may include the cost of services and supplies. Perhaps my suppliers increase their costs when I order closer to the time but I have to delay ordering until I know what my numbers are going to be. Same with staff, if I'm unexpectedly busy do I need to add more staff or pay more wages? Of course the main factor at work her is "Are consumers willing to pay Z?" and certainly in the case of the high season months the answer appears to be yes. Sure a few people might not think so but word of mouth advertising appears to be working, as evidenced by the increasing popularity of boobs cruises and sell out weeks. All despite chair hogs, smokers, photo creepers, air conditioning woes, single guys, electrifying fun holes, lack of use of the cigar bar, guys in shorts and flip flops at the Italian place, poor entertainment staff.... I'm sure I've missed some. For a bunch of whiners we sure seem to like this place

And lets not forget the occasional bacon debacle!!!!
Shorts and flip flops in the 5 star Italian!?!?!?! Holy shit!! Whats this world coming to???? :angel1:
I heard that when they renovate the resort they are changing the bacon to members only...
OH THAT'S IT THEN!!!! The place really is going down hill and I guess those damning TripAdvisor reviews are all coming home to roost! If the bacon bar gets split up we might as well go with the church mission to Guatemala like we tell everyone at home now!
