We leave those at home also. Nothing directly negative towards TTR or Cancun at all...When we travel any place touristy we wear cheap standby stuff. Nothing fancy, just rings from Target (versus the real set from Tiffany's) to act as placeholder so the finger doesn't feel naked, but we still don't have to worry about it on the very unlikely, off chance that something does happen. $20 peace of mind insurance policy...
I also leave any valuable jewelry at home wedding rings etc... Passport, phones, money in the safe. Never a problem for us. Debbie
It's always best to be as smart as possible with what's left out in your room while you're not there in any resort in any country. Courtney and I got married in Punta Cana at a really good resort. The night before a couple of our friends were leaving, they packed their luggage and left it in the room while they went for dinner and one last night drinking. She noticed in the morning that her cash and credit card had been taken from her carry-on. She should have just left them in the safe till the next morning, but she wanted everything ready to go for their early wake-up call. The credit card was used at a convenience store close to the resort the same night it disappeared. It pays to be careful, for sure...
We do the same thing passports, phone and wallet all go in the safe, I bring the cheap camera just in case we want some pictures of the two of us or people we've met over dinner, or if we do a day over on the Isle. For tip money I toss about the same as Scuba Steve $20-40 in a Ziploc sandwich bag the kind with the seal on it, just to keep the money from getting wet if I forget to take it out of my pocket before hitting the pool. Usually it goes into the beach bag. The only other thing of value I may take is my iPod just in case I feel like listening to some tunes in the morning before the DJ shows up. All of which can be stored in the safe when not in use. As far as expensive jewelry she usually packs the costume variety to compliment her outfits she's broken I don't know how many gold or silver necklaces over the years, the jeweler sees me walk through the door and always goes again? She feels if I'm going to lose a necklace let it be the $5 variety.
How do you guys get the tip money to stick to her chest unless it is wet? You would be amazed at how fast a topless girl with money stuck to her gets drinks made even with a line of people waiting. Tip money stays in my trunks, her hands are both full with cups, so it is a convenient and effective method of carrying cash to the bar.
We have used the room safe without any problems in 3 trips for cash/passports/laptop/ipad. We left our phones out in the room on chargers for our entire stay and did not have them disappear. Amanda does not have any expensive rings but if she did, those would stay at home and she would be wearing knock-offs down there in case she got drunk and the ring slipped off in the pool, it would not be the end of the world.
We don't travel with anything valuable. We even leave our good wedding bands at home. I like to wear my Qalo silicon ring but this is more because we tend to lose them in the water. After replacing two of my husbands rings (one in a pool and one on a beach) I said that was enough.
The less you bring, the better off you are. We bring our phone and don't wear half of the clothes, outfits that we bring. Not there to impress anyone just there to have a good time and meet lots of new people!! 14 Days and counting!!! [emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Never had a problem that wasn't our fault... Got completely hammered the night before a 7am Pickup time and we slept through all our alarms. Front desk called and told us USA Transfers is here... I asked for 15 minutes and they said 10 or they weren't waiting. We scrambled everything together in a hurry but left Jenn's 5 diamond necklace in the safe. Called the resort but never ever heard back. We never bring anything that we would miss anymore if something were to happen to it. Another trip coming off the Boobs Cruise my sandals were missing but a pair of the same colour were left over after everyone left. I had nothing to wear so I took them and then left them that night on the ledge by the towel hut. Lo and behold, the next morning mine were there and the other ones were gone. Haha!!!
