Can someone provide the infomation on how to call 1. the US 2. another US cell phone in Cancun 3. a local cell phone from a US cell phone in Cancun.
Henry, I found that the key to dialing back to the US is the '+' sign. you put that in front of the number - +12125551212 and it goes through. At least that's how it worked while I was down there, no problem.
depends on your phone service I guess. to dial the US from Cancun, I didn't have to do anything but add the '+' sign in front of the numbers in my address book and called normally. I'm not sure about calling another US cell phone down there, or calling a Mexican cell phone
I have no + and - signs on my number pad. And my questions are not as simple as how to make an international call. For example, does using a US cell phone in Cancun calling another US cell phone in Cancun count as calling from Mexico to Mexico or US to US or Mexico to US? Because the prefix numbers are different in all those scenarios. What about using a US cell phone in Cancun calling a Canadian cell phone in Cancun? I'm looking for the exact dialing sequence, not just how to do this in general.
Henry, check out this informative site: http://www.mexperience.com/guide/essentials/comms.htm#CallCharges
1.Long Distance Calls from Mexico To a Mexican telephone number: 01 + city code + local number To the U.S. or Canada: 001 + area code + local number To other countries: 00 + country code + city code + local number 2. to reach a cell phone, call 011-52-1 + 10-digit number. Note that when calling cell phones locally you call 044 + 10-digit number. When calling internationally, the 044 is omitted. 3. Cell Phones in Mexico 044: Many Mexico cellphone numbers have the prefix "044". This is only used when calling the number locally and is omitted for international calls. For example, to place a call locally to a cell phone you must dial 044 + the 10-digit number. To place a long distance call to the cell phone you omit the 044, e.g. 011-52 + the 10-digit number. To place an international call to a cell phone, you now must add a "1" after the country code, i.e. 011-52-1 + 10-digit number.
