Using Interact-Debit cards/Bank Cards in Cancun..Safe?

Hi,

Just wondering if using a debit card in Cancun would be safe strategy instead of bringing a whole bunch of cash. How safe would it be to use it to take out cash whenever you need it? Will my account be comprimised?

I'm going to be staying at the Oasis Cancun..and it seems shyt ends up missing in the rooms all the time so thinking of alternatives.

ive used it everytime i have gone with no issues. however i do make sure i keep an eye on it if possible, and always keep the recipt just in case something comes up. also, let your bank know that you are leaving the country, that way if something happens down the road they will have your back. good luck

 

Also, try to use ATM machines that looks legit. I try to use one that's connected to a building. Stand alone ones always seem sketchy to me.

 

i used the one in 2004/2005 at the flea market..... it charged me a nice fee though when i got back

i no longer have a bank account though.

i'd love to find an ATM that doesn't charge me a huge fee...but since I use a local bank, thats going to be impossible.....oh well, just take out one large sum at a time so that you dont have to use the ATM again and get hit with that fee

 

I use an atm every year and have had no problems at all

 

take as much cash as possible cuz there's no ATM at oasis as far as I know. I had to walk to some far place away from oasis the one Time I went.

 

last time i was there (like 2 months ago) there was an ATM at the oasis, but i think it gave only USD

 

You go to party zone at night, right?

 

when you say there is a big fee, what are we talking here? 5 dollars?
