@Epic: Hey neighbor! Thanks for the suggestion, will start scouting around tonight Oh yeah, car without A/C is NOT an option...
Vivastreet or novedades and take a mechanic with you to look over the vehicle. Tiangus near the stadium is a nightmare. We have FM3s and had no trouble buying car or registering it in our name . Good Luck Tracey
used cars i've bought cars twice from the used car lot at the traffic circle by the CRUZ ROJA. i think it is where labna crosses yaxchilan by TVCUN. good prices, good cars, no problems. most of the cars are vehicles phased out of the rental fleet from Enterprise (or Executive, i dont recall) :headbanger:
You might also cruise the parking lots for cars with the $ sticker on them... you never know what you might find... also when you "test drive" don't take a smooth road.. take one like Yachillan with the imitation cobblestone so you'll know how horrible the suspension is... my car is smooth as glass on the nicely paved roads but once you hit the textured surfaces it sounds and feels like large parts might start flying off... and you better take those "topes" SLOW...:icon_mrgreen:
I am very interested then in the particulars of your experience... when and where you were able to to register a car, either foreign or domestic with only an FM3 since the Fall of 2008??? I had done all kinds of research here on this board and others and it was not until after we had purchased a US but Nationalized vehicle that we found out about about the change back in November2008.
Mole, I would be interested in reading the law that you refer to as being changed in the fall of 2008. Could you please provide a link or whatever you are referring to. Maybe just someone at Banjercito told you this but it has to go back to some actual written law, presumably changed. Gracias,
We bought a 'Nationalized' vehicle back in Nov 2008 based on everything that I had been able to find back then for ease etc but when we attempted to register it, no go, so I then re-researched and sure enough.... the law had changed. That's why if someone is/has been able to register/plate that type of vehicle since then, I'd like to know. We were not able to register the car in our name initially or since.... Thread at that time: FM2 needed for vehicle license in Quintana Roo? : Cancun
