Agreed with everyone above. The one time we took a cab to do anything was to go into Playa del Carmen one time from Secrets Capri (we didn't know then-BBG now TTR) even existed then. The dude charged us $35 USD to go what ended up to be about 7 miles or so. Really dude? Really?

Since it's like a half-hour run at speed from CUN to TTR, that cab ride would be over $100 USD I'm guessing, with driving through crappy neighborhoods (just like taking a cab in the States, ya know), and hope he just doesn't hand you over to the guerrillas.

I'm kidding about the guerrillas. They don't have those.

They turn you over to the gorillas.

Save money, time, and stress. Get a transfer company, and since Steve backs USA, go with them.

We booked through USA Transfers and couldn't have been happier. Another couple at the resort told us they paid $90 USD round trip with the "taxi company" at the airport. Thanks for all your help!

    Cab Warning

We just got back from TTR and boy did I make a stupid tourist mistake! Came out of departures and was bombarded by the yells of "taxi". So we paid $90 cash (I know, I know) got a very real looking Greenline receipt, got in a Cab and away we went. The $90 is for a round trip to and from the hotel, the receipt had carbon copies that the guy at the airport kept, wrote our pick up times on it, put our name on a clipboard the works...looked legit. Well, to keep a long story fairly short, they no showed, had to pay $30 more dollars to get back. The Greenline representative said we didn't have a the right receipt and refused to do anything other than to stall me long enough that I had to catch our plane. If you decide on a Greenline cab (it is actually a travel company with no rep at TTR, we had guest service call several times said they would be the at 4pm...never showed either) your risking getting screwed out of $120 bucks!

How far in-advance should this be booked. This sound like the best way to get to the resort!! Thanks for the tidbit!

Glad we saw this thread, thanks for the advice, we just booked our transfers through the links here. I am not sure if it fills up if you do not book far enough in advance but it looks like there is no deposit necessary and it can be cancelled if you are not sure so go ahead and book it.

Im travelling alone...making the transfer twice as expensive (another disadvantage of coming as a "Single male"!) I presume this is still my best bet? Cant see anyone flying in on the same day as of yet!
