I made an appointment in philly for three days after i called.... and only 4 days before my trip. My appointment was for 11am... my passport was ready by 1:15pm that same day... they told us to relax or explore philly while waiting. it does cost 160 though instead of 100. no probs at all.
It will be tough but you can do it. There are like 13 places in the US that you can go to get your passport done. I went through this 2 years ago when I went to Cancun. You have to go in person and get it taken care of. It will take you the entire day but you should be able get it done prior to the 13th. good luck

We went to our local post office and had our passports within a couple of days. That was not even with expidited service.
passport I hear lately passports are taking up to 8 weeks.......i have been waiting 6 weeks for mine..................ugh... hope it comes soon even tough i still have a bit of time til my trip
