They do take Canadian, and at a very favourable rate. The owner is Canadian (from Edmonton) so it's his little give back to his fellow countrymen. Pesos will always be taken too, it's the National currency. Also you do not have to set it up ahead of time, just pay on arrival. You do have to arrive on a flight that originated in Canada though, Air Canada, Sunwing etc.
Support everything said above.... another plus the pesos haven't fluctuated as much as the US Dollar against £sterling. Pesos in UK moves in the 24 -26 range, US dollar gone from $2 to £, to $1.50, now 1.28-1.30. So Pesos currently far better.......... enjoy TTR
As you know Steve, I'm pretty stupid. So my problem with that is I often mix up what I am bringing out of the room, and then later what I am giving out once I have had 20 too many drinks. So I am like: "did I just give a 5USD or a 50MXN, or shit I might have given a 500MXN." So i try to keep everything one way now, cause it just easier for my drunken brain to operate, and USD are obviously easier for me. I did a trip where I basically just got all 100MXN bills. I was easy because it was like I was giving 5USD every time (and then double or quadrupling them up). But that is just too many bills. I wish they has a peso between a 200 and 500. I think that would make things easier for me. I don't understand that 1 - 2 - 5 jump. That didn't even work for US currency.
Last night we were at the bank and they encouraged us to take Pesos, due to the exchange rates with the USD. Canadian to USD is like 1.39 last night at 7pm. Where as the peso was 14.6 (its now 14.2 hehe) Would have cost me more to tip in USD, buy a lot. So we figured out 5 American dollars is roughly 100 pesos. What are people actually tipping? I was guessing this year at 70-100 ish pesos (housekeeping, breakfast, lunch, dinner, bartender) 350-500 pesos a day. This is very similar to my previous trips and that was good. When I have to buy trips and such I use my credit card.
we always take pesos ..hubs is good and figuring conversion rates so we tip in pesos about what we would for bartenders if we were at a bar here at home .. and so on we always get some from our bank before we go he usually spot checks the rate daily so he knows about what to give
