Well factoring in the cost of parking, gas, etc... we'd be saving $400 in total by flying out of Montreal instead of direct from Ottawa. We know and LOVE Westjet and that's the direct flight from Ottawa (20 minutes from our house, and we have someone to drive us there/back, including bringing our kids to/from the airport too). Save $400 to drive in a potential winter storm in late-January... hrmm... starting to think the direct option is a better one. We realize the only reviews posted are negative (much like most resorts on travel sites but knowing TTR - we've been there before - not all are to be believed!). A close friend of ours has had major problems with US Air going to Costa Rica -- 3 of her 6 flights were delayed more than 1.5 hours, and 2 of those were outright cancelled and she was bumped to another flight -- the next day! That would piss me off if my hard-earned vacation was put on hold by an airlines' incompetence. Will have a sit-down with the better-half tonight and see what she thinks.
We flew us air this past march to cancun from pittsburgh had no problems both planes were full heard of no one getting bumped and yes left the gates on time or a little ahead of time, we would use them again.
I've always (approx. 10+ trips) flown to Cancun on US Airways (through Philadelphia) and only had an issue once and that was due to the many many inches on snow on the ground. You'll be fine. If you can upgrade to an aisle or exit row - go for it. But I've found that usually on international flights, they use the bigger planes so seats are slightly bigger. If it makes you feel any better, there are atleast 5+ flights out of Philadelphia (some connecting in other cities) to cancun daily. Just book your trip and enjoy
Knock on wood we never had any issues traveling from Philly to MX with US Air. A few issues domestically with overbooking but nothing international. Nice early direct flights that are A LOT cheaper than any other.
We flew US Air on our trip out of Philly, no problems what so ever!! We will probably fly them again on our "Bach/Bachlorette" trip with you guys in Jan! Can't wait!!!
The prices do fluctuate. Last year they came down for Ottawa to the same level as Montreal but still a bit higher then Toronto in September, try caa travel web site, and flight center.ca, you can build your vacation on theses sights, just beware to allow for ground transfers.try diferent departure days, that can effect the price buy 400$.
