Thanks everyone for the info... much appreciated. We just recovered from COVID, and are going in Feb to visit TTR friends in Cancun, but not the resort... then we're coming to TTR in June again...so I'm hoping that for such a massive requirement that it's made easier and cheaper. And I think the Mexican government realizes that, otherwise desperately needed tourism would take a hit. We missed going last year. We don't want to miss this one, especially since we suffered through having COVID.
So the way I read the US requirement is that no testing is required if you have can show you have already survived covid. Wife and I had covid confirmed by rapid tests in early November. We have those test receipts. It's not clear in the referenced bulletin exactly what paperwork is required to prove this (note from Dr?). Like most bureaucratic edicts they will figure it out as we go I guess. By same logic you should be exempt after vaccination.
Couldn't tell you for certain if it was from TTR or the flights, but my wife and I did in fact get hit with a light case of Covid coming back from TTR two trips ago.
We got it at TTR July 4th because the person that we got it from was there many days before us and left 2 days after we got there. He started feeling bad at home before we even left TTR. We didn't start feeling it until we got home 6 days later. It was very mild for us and we have been back to TTR 3 times since July and nothing due to the antibodies.
Just booked a weekend trip two days ago for 1/29 but will have to cancel if they don't have testing on site or across the street. No reason to come for such a short trip if we have to jump in a cab to get a test the day we get there.
