Saw this article that came out today’s CDC to require all air travelers to US to show negative coronavirus test — CNN
Smart move. Wouldnt be surprised to see resorts in Mexico setting up testing sites for tourists somewhere in or around the hotel.
As we live in Canada we had to get tested last Thursday before leaving Cancun. We did it at a private hospital and got the results within hours of the test. We paid $265 USD each for the test. Jen at the TTR concierge desk helped set it up. Yes there are many clinics that can do it cheeper but we have heard the reslts can take between 48 and 72 hours or longer. We didn't want to risk it. I can see that the labs will get very busy and overwhelmed so be prepared for booking your Covid test at the same time as booking your trip. This will be something you will need to plan on in advance. If you have any questions about the private hospital let me know. It was very easy and only left the resort for 30 minutes total.
I hope it’s not Hospiten hospital. That hospital scares the hell out of me. Let our friend die down there in 2019 cause he didn’t have 40k cash upfront
Sorry to hear that but yes it was that hospital. We found our experience very clean, professional and easy to do. Yes its a private hospital and we paid a premium for the test to be done.
There is a good thread here, with useful info from @Steve Covid Testing In Cancun? Would travel insurance with a medical benefit pay for this test?
We submitted the receipts to our Canadian health care provider last Friday and they havnt rejected it so far. Usually we would have found out the same day. It will depend on your travel policy but most will cover testing from the research we have done.
Will this pretty much eliminate travelers without antibodies? If you test positive you could be stuck in your room for several weeks.
