well when i usually go abroad in europe i usually take about a quarter in euro cash, then the rest in travellers cheques, but seeing as its cancun this year,im not sure,im thinking about taking a little bit in mexican currency and maybe the rest on a cash card? or do they change up travellers cheques in a lot of hotels in cancun??
Last year I took all USD, all cash. This year I'm taking all cash in Pesos. They round up the price in Pesos to get the dollar price. MOst hotels give you a safe, so providing you use that having everything in cash shouldn't be an issue.
I hear for your UK's it might be better to take pesos. that way you odn't loose on the xchange from Uk to USD to Pesos.. Same with us Canadians..We have to convert twice.
im taking around 1/4 in dollars to tip people and if anything crops up and the rest in the mexcian currency... is the mexcian currency in large notes? considering its 21 to £1
Read this thread mate. http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29030&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 You can change travellers cheque's up in most places, would'nt recomend the hotels though as their exchange rate is shite. Personaly speaking ( from experience ) i'd take a few hundred quid in cash and my bank card. Enjoy. Ian
