It seems so Zackman, Labours strategy of spending their way out of the recession was probably the wrong one. Time to introduce some austerity measures and start hitting the banks hard for the money that was pumped in to them. They all benefited either directly or indirectly from the hundreds of billions and at the moment are laughing .... all the way to the bank.

Quite worrying how jumpy the markets are at the moment, even more worrying is how quick the ratings agencies are in saying that a hung parliament could damage the UK's triple A rating ... talk like that only serves to widen the panic and does nothing to bolster confidence. Scary how a few men in the city, who have nothing to do with government can literally dictate the future of a country.

I would have liked the lib dems to have gotten more votes, but until the system is reformed and we get rid of this ridiculous 1st past the 326 seat post, they haven't got a hope in hell, they'd be crazy now not to form up with Cameron. Good to see the BNP slid, although they did get half a million votes which although in the big scheme of things is insignificant, is a fair few. Will be an interesting couple of days ahead

So, we got a new Tory prime minister and my team Nottingham Forest lost in the play offs all in the same day.

Could it really get any worse?

Don't know how much of the global meltdown of 2008 can be blamed on your own set of greedy bas..rds, or what role RBS may have played in it, but most analysts see it as "Made in the U.S.A."

That panic you spoke of really seems to have taken hold of the markets, now, with whatever confidence people were feeling, gone. Last week's crisis in the euro zone did it.

Even the bailout package, designed to have a calming effect- and as necessary as it was to prevent a collapse in the sovereign bond market- has made people think things must really be bad to require anything that big (one trillion USD equivalent).

Being scottish then the tories getting in is disastrous. not just that, working in local government means that my salary weill be cut even further as scotlands public spending budget gets cut dramatically.

low paid workers have been getting shafted over this for years and the future looks much worse.

so this may be my first and last visit to cancun in august for a long time as things stand at the moment.

    mon the SNP!!!

you guys do seem to have taken the brunt of the cuts, but what would you rather have, a fully independent scotland with all power and fiscal responsibility devolved from london to holyrood?
