Food was great. Of course not americanized but I feel compared well to other trips we've taken.

Drinks.....well somewhat watered down as usual but when you drink from 9am to midnight that's probally a good thing. Still had some foggy mornings!!

Made a trip to Isla. Not extremely crazy but I felt worth it. We booked our trip as a package but would recommend making voyage on your own.

Beach was pretty nice. Had a shelf as you probally already know but no big deal. Oh yeah, I think the current is especially strong in front of this resort. Always had red flags out. The first day we were there (well liquored up) we all ran out into the ocean and were whistled in when we got up to our waists. I noticed it was common practice and a lot of people were whistled in. Be careful!!

Make sure to tell Gloria that "shabba dabba" said hi. :D

Still weird stuff going on with this hotel. Another poster on tripadvisor was told to cancel by his travel agent & try to rebook at another hotel. I got an e-mail from hotwire.com (where I booked my trip), that they were changing their rating to a 3* and that I could cancel if I wanted & they would help me rebook elsewhere. Since I've only heard good things from those that have returned, I have opted to keep the reservation at the Tucancun, but do wonder what's going on with these travel agents and what information that they're getting :?: :?:

I was just there from 5/17-5/23. We had the best time. The activities staff was fantastic. Angel, Jorge, Recipe (Christian), Odett, Gloria, and Pokeman (Louis). They busted their butts and every day had us very busy having fun.

The resort is beautiful. The rooms were very nice. We had one in the main tower and our friends were in the Northern tower. The maid service was great.

The crew in the seafood restaurant were nothing less than first class. David and his crew took care of us each time we ate there (3 times).

The front desk could use a little help with accomodating requests, but the hotel was busy and not all of their rooms were open yet. We just wanted to be in the same tower and the same floor with our friends, but in the end we were hardly ever in them.

When the HZ lost power, we were in the lobby waiting to go to The City with the entertainment staff and I saw first hand how quickly the staff reacted and did what they could to get lights on and help those stuck in the elevators. The generators started within seconds.

The beach was huge and beautiful. I was concerned about the wall, but it was no problem when we got there. I can't believe the sea shells we found. Sand dollars whole ones, too. Yes, the red flags were up, but we were never whistled in. We played with boogie boards and had a riot.

There aren't many hotels open going north and just a handfull going south. We felt like we owned the beach.

I loved the hotel and would definetly go back. But after meeting the BBG folk at Charlos N Charlies, I may have a new hotel to check out. HEE HEE.

We were at the Barcelo from May 24-31 and we had a blast! I didn't know what to expect after reading some of the reviews on this site, but we were more than satisfied. Rooms were cool and clean, food was great, beach was beautiful, staff helpful...drinks excellent...I could go on and on...I took my 18 yr old son and friend and they didn't want to leave! We will definitely stay at the Tucancun when we return to Cancun! It was awesome! Great hotel! If you want a party, you will find it...if you want to spend time alone, you can find that too. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this place--we had the time of our lives!!!

    barcelo tucanan beach resort

Has anyone had a problem with being charged for things that they did not use or do at this resort? I have been reading negative things on Tripadvisor. :-|
