Shelly I saw your runners LV picture I cant run, not allowed to, Lost 9 pounds of Lean tissue one year testing that theory out. Coaches kyboshed it. But I will walk and chat with you guys no problems. I dont bring anything with me in most cases, I am educated enough on the diet side to know what to eat. Its the resistance on indulgence that I cant afford not to have hehe. When its drinking time its drinking time, there is no way around that part Just means more cardio, more beach walks, more early morning swims.
Oh I am with you there for sure, I did not work as hard as I should have in the weight loss department over the last 3 years, I was building bulk and size. Granted I am leaner and bigger than I have ever been, but its an uphill battle to prep for contest. I will enjoy the rewards June 2nd
I gain a lot of weight if I eat too many carbs so I have to watch the sugar big time - which is easy to avoid in drinks, not as easy with food. I have lost a lot of weight over the past year and a half and am still trying to dump more, no competitions (other than marathons), but I do have to watch it on these vacations because of vulnerabilities with hypothyroid problems that can make me gain a lot of unwanted fat in a short time, if I am not careful. Building muscle over the past year or so has made a huge difference, and I am not as vulnerable, but if I don't keep up a training program I will get out of sync and it will take more time to get back in the habit when I get back. I'm thinking I can do at least 3-4 days of 30-60 minute workouts - travel days are out, so is Boobs Cruise day - so all the other days I need to keep up with cardio and yoga. I will not get a long run in that week, but I'll survive Hot yoga is helping with my resistance to working out in high temps, but I still don't think I could run 10+ miles in Cancun, would freaking kill me with the humidity!! And I have never done a long run on a treadmill - would have to bring a great movie to watch on the ipad or something, yawn!! I am hoping yoga will help recover from hangovers - lol!!
Besides the drinking, it may not be so bad! There's beach volleyball every afternoon, and that's major cardio if you go all gym class hero on it. There's even a pull-up bar by the sexy pool...usually used to punish contest losers, but no one would stop you from using it! The buffet always has plenty of fresh fruit, veggies and fish. There's also a grill going in there for breakfast and lunch, so I'm sure they'd whip up egg white omelets or chicken breasts. I admire your dedication, but I don't think your coach has to worry too much.
I think its an uphill battle for everyone, but not all people choose to see it, with your thyroid issues its even harder. But keep on trucking. I will be there for sure, a few times If I can muster\pull myself away from the debauchery of the sexy pool.
Yes most resorts have these options, drinking can add up calories very quickly if your not careful though. I am not a big drinker unless I get going, then its bad I am ok with punishment, as long as its public Your right, the fruit is fantastic most of the time in mexico, way better than anything in Canada for sure 90% of the time. When we were in Cabo last year they would start my eggs when I walked up the stairs, the girl would sit me down and bring me coffee while I watched the sun rise. Then I would have a heaping 10 egg omelet infront of me, I would take my time and eat that with some yummy local toast. My first day they did look at me sideways when I ordered, but they always do when its big like that, and I tipped them 5 bucks, I ate the whole dam thing and I think they never forgot that I am looking forward to the food for sure, its a little bland right now.
The thought of working out during the stay at TTR has crossed my mind some but I've never had any issues with taking breaks or time off workouts for something like this trip. Please keep in mind that I always eat extremely healthy and that never stops even on a trip. I've been a Type 1 diabetic for 36 years so healthy food is the only food that tastes good to me after that many years. Besides I'm often more active on vacations than I am during normal daily life when I have work and responsibilities that take up too much of that valuable thing called time. Sounds like you have the right idea; eat smart and do as many things 'physical' as you can while enjoying your trip!
I am usually on my own and in the gym daily a TTR. It still doesn't help as I will gain 5 lbs every trip anyways. It does help with the bad knee and helps to push out the swelling from my osteoarthritis. Humidity makes it worse. Years ago I used to lap the pools running evey morning. Just didn't feel comfortable by myself in Cancun. Now that my knee is screwed up I miss the running but I am in the gym trying to make it stronger and on the elliptical and using the weights. Probably see you there if your there in April.
Not sure what your drinking strategy is but most of the day in the pool I drink dark rum & club soda, and I bring some Mio liquid sugar-free sweeteners to add some sweetness & flavor if I want. Also, if fruit is in your plan they have several good juices on the breakfast buffet. I like to fill my mug up with one on my way out, then when I'm ready for my first drink I take it to the bar and have them add rum. Delicious and nutritious!
Lol wish I had an unlike button. I can only dream about losing weight on any trip. I have to lose 5-10 before I go ot make up for the weight gain coming home.
