Woah! I wrote this OP while I was still sleeping I think, just saw all my typos.... I corrected a few...
Great report! I also enjoy how you analyze ( or over-analyze ) things. These trip reports are great for information especially for newbies. However you have to personally experience TTR to see how special it is. I know you were leary of some things before your trip, most notably the weather & the bus system. It appears both worked out fine. I think you will find many ppl will disagree with you on your golf cart assessment though. Curious as to how long you rented them for & if you toured the entire island to see the cliffs on the other side?
I agree with you, I dismissed the wonderful views the island offers. I circled the island once but wanted to get back to those blue waters as quickly as possible. The views by the cliffs were in fact beautiful.
Great trip report! We have definitely experienced some of what you described and then some . A whole day on Isla Mujeres wasn't enough for us, so we rented the shell house with some friends last summer for a week. Ziplining across the ocean, petting the nurse shark, dining in the evening on the streets, lobster on the beach... the possibilities on the island are endless! But yes, Playa Norte is stunning.
If you are referring to my comment that I hope Temp is not as intense as Hedo..... Temptation was tame, a puppy, a walk in the park....Hedo is more more than a notch, more like taking the express elevator to the top level of the Empire State Building.
Nice Trip Report, It was hard to recognize and hang out with a lot of the September group, but we did manage a group of about 10 or 12 or so
