My forecast is that it will turn north and dump us with lots of rain but no serious wind. My history is that this is what has happened for a long time, BUT with that D*&# Wilma exception that kicked our butts.
It's looking like a whole lot of nothing on the satellite today.. and they haven't upgraded it's chances any so I'm thinking its going to fizzle itself out..
Invest 95L According to Tropical Depression FIFTEEN it will be hitting south of Cancun. Just can't get into the frame of mind to deal with a Wilma-like storm!
Looks like Matthew will stay well south of us....at least by today's tracks Track Tropical Storm Lisa, Track Tropical Storm Matthew / Stormpulse / Hurricanes, severe weather, tracking, mapping
Glad I didn't "invest" Matthew is now overland, in Honduras, and dissipating its energy, gained over water. The forecasts seem to all point in one direction, that this storm will soon be a "has been". www.stormpulse.com
What a pleasure that we can stay abreast of weather developments, so easily, using the internet. That's especially important for us, with storms sometimes developing nearby, as with Ida, last year, giving shorter notice of their potential arrival. There is a storm in the offing, now, that I would think is likely to bring wind and rain to Cancun in the next three days or so. But, that's more than enough time to make whatever arrangements are necessary for your comfort, or protection!, as the case may be. In the last storm we had I had a good chance to see how useless umbrellas are in the wind: it took all of two seconds to turn mine completely inside out and make it unfit for further service. We're lucky, on the peninsula, that we are built on limestone: no mudslides here. Pity those poor people in other parts of Mexico, right now, where every passing storm this year has made conditions just that much worse for them, with the ground already saturated.
