We left for our trip after a massive snow/ice storm literally shut down all of Seattle/Tacoma. We didn't have power for nearly 4 days, and the temps were below freezing outside! We laid in bed laughing about how in only a few days we would be wanting A/C in Cancun - and boy were we ready for some warm sun!! Our internet and cable TV were still out when we left, poor kids! We couldn't have picked a better time to get away - you will be in blissful heaven in the heat!! We celebrated our 5th anniversary two weeks ago there, was awesome! Hope you have a wonderful trip. Also, tell the front desk it is your anniversary, they will help you with dinner reservations (they did that for us).

Very good and well detailed trip report

we agree with pretty much all of this from our previous trip

The good thing about going back again is we can apply all the stuff we learned throughout our first trip from day 1 this time around!

My parents live in WA and left for Maui that same exact time. Happy to be out of there but had a hell of a mess with trees down on their property when they returned. Wild weather!

Great reports. We have just returned from our first trip to Temptations and agree with nearly all your observations/comments. Agreed that it is the people that make it - we made some great friends. We will be future "repeaters".

We agree that Chichen Itza is well worth a visit. We used Flavio Tours - They were superb - only 6 in our minibus and avoided all the crowds. Check them out on Tripadvisor for more details/feedback.

Now back to the real world and cold weather in England. :(

Great TR. It is very seldom we agree with 99 percent of a report that someone writes. Glad you had a good time.

Sultryfox (aka Shelly) and I are already trying to find an excuse to go back (Soon !). This may be our new favorite vacation spot!

Glad people found this helpful. :)

There are a few sections I read after a day or so that I probably would have changed a little, but I stand by the basic theme of what I said.

Hope to see you there !

Awesome report, until the last line... Glad your shout out to the leafs was saved to the end, or I would of probably skipped the entire report.

Lots of info, great detail... A quick note for your next trip

ATM / CC - get travel cards and stick w/ bank named ATMs. Some travel cards offer few free transactions a month and charge a lot less than non-travel cards. Also, if you normally buy insurance, most can be had for less than the cost of 1 trip insurance package. If you don't normally buy insurance, now you have it. Bank ATMs typically charge a transaction fee or withdrawal fee. Some of the private machines dispense cash as a cash advance instead of withdrawal, which could amount to a higher rate.

Cell Phones - some of us need phones... if you need it for talk/text, look into renting one locally. Normally very cheap weekly rate and includes a decent LD package. If you need a fair amount of data, I'd suggest buying a local SIM card and getting a pay as you go plan.
