We took a red-eye, and landed at Cancun around 10:30. Immigration and customs took about an hour, and as usual, USA Transfers was waiting for us on the outside. We were immediately whisked away in a van, bought a couple of beers from our driver and were at the hotel by 12:00. At check in, our room was not ready, so we changed in the bathrooms, and went to have lunch at the buffet, then on to the pool. No open seats at 12:30, but we found some old friends, put our stuff with theirs, and Bubba mugs in hand, jumped into the Sexy pool. Room: We reserved a trendy ocean view, and as usual, did the pre-checkin. We were given room 1714, which is actually a garden room with an ocean view. (it is the closest room to the hammocks where everyone meets up for the Boobs Cruise). We expressed our dismay, but were told that was the only one available, so we took it. It was small on floor space, but otherwise adequate. The A/C struggled, and we spent most nights sleeping above the sheets. Of note, the A/C throughout the hotel seemed to struggle everywhere we went. Daytime activities: The Playmakers are energetic, fun, and want to have a good time. The crowd this week was pretty into participating, so it was a lot of fun. We participated in several contests, and water volleyball. One day, we made it over to try out the Hobie Cat. It was a lot of fun. Sometimes, it is hard to peel yourself away from the sexy pool, but it was worth it. In February, they had food poolside most days around 1:00. This time, that never happened, except for the hot-dog cart guy. Saturday, we were looking forward to the foam party. This is our 4th trip since the renovation. The foam parties since then have all been duds, due to equipment failure, weather, or who knows why, so we had low expectations. At 3:00, the foam came on, and it was like the old days. Walls of foam, people everywhere, what a great time. Restaurants: The morning buffet is different depending on which side you sit on. You can go from one side to the other, and get widely different food selections. It seemed the staff here were somewhat cutthroat about getting people to sit in their areas. We ate breakfast and dinner at the Sea Flirt twice, and the food and service were amazing each time. We ate at the Sutra twice. Once for the Hibachi and once for the “regular”. Both were amazing. We ate at the Romanza once. While the food was good, the service was slow, and poor. We have noticed this each time we have been there since the renovation. I doubt we will eat there again. It’s too bad, it was our favorite. Because of that, we decided to try the Flame (we never have because of the bad reviews), and wound up loving it so much the first time, we went back again a few nights later. Their steaks were done perfectly, and the service was top notch. *** They also will make you a sexy coffee here. *** On a sad note, several of the wait staff we have gotten to know over the years from several restaurants were no longer there. Bash: The shows that start off the night were entertaining, and they have changed up slightly. We participated in all theme nights, except for School Girl, (because we slept through it). Participation was more than we had ever seen, over 80% each night. lingerie night did not initially seem to have lots of participation as it seemed people were waiting to see what everyone else was doing before deciding to jump in. We were only disappointed with the DJ one night. (They had several throughout the week). Whenever we went to dance, the servers would take our drinks. On the upside, we always got a fresh one when we were done… Most nights ended with a Bash Burger – always great. Boobs Cruise: We always go, we always have fun. This one was odd, to be sure. There was a guy reading a comic book in the back the whole time, his wife staring at him steely-eyed the whole time. Who knows what happened here? We can only speculate he signed up hoping his wife would be excited, and no, she was not. Several women kept their tops on the entire cruise. Since early 2015, when we started coming on the cruise, we have always had the same lunch stop. Between February of this year, and this trip, they have changed the location we stop at. The food was fine, (similar to the other place), but the bar service sucked (as was already noted in another trip report). No games were played, no dancing, etc. No longer topless! Just lunch. So, it seemed to drag for a while. Back on the boat, awesomeness ensued, as always. Back to Temptation at 4:00, as promised. Overall, another great trip. We love this place, and are looking forward to our next visit.
Great trip report! We too love the foam parties. However, post renovations, for us the foam parties in the large sexy pool have never been up to par with the old foam parties in the Sports Pool. Great to hear about the theme night participation. We will be there in two weeks and hope the participation is the same then.
Thanks for taking the time to post your experience. Yes, things are ever changing, some for the good and some not so much.
Nice TR you guys, glad you had a good trip. I'd like to know what the difference is for the Foam Parties, since the past few trips it's been, like you noted, sort of a dud. Good to know they've gotten hat worked out and everyone can play foam games again.
Our May trip they had new machines set up and they really cranked out the foam. Which makes playing hide and seek more fun.
They also positioned the foam machines all around the pool, including 1 or 2 in the swim up bar. Seemed to be a more "professional" kind of job, the ones in the past seemed to be done "on the cheap".
