We went to the Golden Parnassus in December, had a great time, and are looking at GOV this year. Definitely will need some reviews better than this. The Golden has a great hot tub that is right on the beach, and next to the Tiki bar that is open till 2:00 a.m. You could easily get 30 people in there. This picture is only part of it.

Lots of time to decide, so i guess we'll wait for more reports.

Thanks for the review and sorry you had crappy weather :/ That always casts a bad shadow on a vacation. The bars closing so early is definitely a bummer! I hope that gets corrected ASAP...

I was super excited too. I emailed Valentina before we left to make sure it was open and she said it would be. She said she felt bad that she told me it would be open and it wasn't when we got there. I'm not sure what happened, but I really wanted to have the blind tasting experience. She actually said she wanted to meet us when we checked in, but our flight was delayed 6 hours and we missed her that evening.

Understandable, nobody knew they charged for the hot tubs. We didn't. The only reason we found out was because the rude chicks told us they made reservations. So we went in the spa to ask.

I think guests can use them. There are only two poles. The gogo dancers were on them mostly, but they took breaks. I really think it was the music. If they played better music, I would've been up there. But I didn't want to pole dance to the Beach Boys. There wasn't a lot of sexy music.

The guests were still really cool. And I met quite a few drinking in the lobby, waiting for sushi, during the pole class, and quite frankly while trying to figure out what going on or where things were. But you're right I really wanted more participation. I was really looking forward to the lingerie party.

I think there's a commitment. But it was obvious the infrastructure just wasn't there at this point. I think things just haven't been fully implemented. They seemed to be struggling, so maybe implementation of the themes will come later. They were at 100% capacity, so I think that threw them for a loop, as well. It may have been because we were super close to the changeover date, but I don't even think they were pushing the themes. There was nothing on our promotional materials about lingerie or latex night. This may change. Most of our suggestions were infrastructure suggestions (better communication, more signage so people don't get lost, get a better DJ or tell him to stop scratching, utilize the lcd tvs more and display the themes and restaurant hours on them, provide more seating in the restaurants).

We mentioned during our talk that the employees should really should know the themes and push them aggressively. Valentina said she met with all the different employee groups to make sure they are aware of all the resorts offerings. She looked disappointed when we told her we weren't informed of the kinky pirate cruise when we checked in.

I don't think they were marketing ploys, but like I said the resort was struggling with so many other things, food included, that it was almost impossible to effectively implement the themes. Once they get used to operating at 100% and hire more people, I think things will be better. Everything needed for an awesome, risque, sexy vacation was there. People stayed at the hotel to party. People even got involved. People wanted to drink. People wanted to have fun. The resort just wasn't ready to communicate and carry out all of the awesome changes. And plus we had horrible weather...so that dampened things.

Shitty review but your last sentence in your last post is most likely why

Very tough to have a great holiday when the weather sucks. Just not as fun. It's a fact

The hot tubs looked liked this. Sorry I didn't bring my phone, to take pictures. I lost my waterproof Iphone case. There was a bigger tub but the water was cold.

Thank you very much for taking the time for a detailed report. We are still waiting for more even though we plan to travel in three weeks. Or we can wait until April. Thanks again. By the way in my many visits to the GP the hot tub there is awesome.

Since you are fairly new to the site please accept my apology for any rude comments from one poster.

Thanks for your response and the great trip report. It sounds like they have some work to do to get it "party ready" (or at least what we consider to party ready).

For all us CCC people who will be staying GOV in the near future, it may be time to start stepping up the postings and organizing themes etc. It seems that we may have to take matters into our own hands by banding together to create the kind of party atmosphere that we want.
