2 nights at Temptation Miches (also 5 nights at Grand Miches separate report, SPOILER alert we had a great experience at Grand). Occupancy was supposedly around 25% while we were there.

We have visited TTR 9 times DMR 4 times as compare, we are not Premier members. We fell in love with TTR but as the marketing and guest demographic changed, we migrated over to DMR, some via “split-trips”. Attached is the cheap TMR property map we were given at check-in.

    Transportation: see Grand Miches review.

Layout of Resort: lobby, restaurants, coffee shop, Bash, gym/spa housed in main Hub building which is huge. Lots of empty space and feels like landing on the moon. We were shocked at how large and empty it felt when we first arrived to check-in. Rooms are in a horseshoe type layout from Hub and building #5+6 are not directly connected to the Hub in case of rain (not sure about #1-4). Sexy pool located in center of Hub/rooms however there is a long walk to the beach. Not the same type of congregating areas as TTR. Walkways outside are kind of a cobblestone (uneven surface) which made high-heels adventurous but smooth surfaces get slippery in the humidity so pick your poison.

Sexy Pool: lots of space and chairs, not terribly cramped like TTR. Depth of water is no more than 3’5” so boobs are out and you can hold drinks easier than TTR. We never spend much time in the water and never order drinks from swim up bar so can’t comment much more. Restrooms are nice and located along with Towel boy right next to pool. No Premier Bar, but room to build one. Tons of open space between Sexy Pool and Quiet Pool/Beach access which creates even more sense of deadness. Similar activities as TTR lead by Playmakers, difficult job with such low occupancy. At our age, a more hybrid daytime schedule works better anyhow…during some of the Sexy Pool games is when we would venture to the beach/quiet pool. Amores is next to Pool and open-air seating (this only restaurant not located in Hub). Toplessness % - guessing 30-40% during our stay. No Hot Tub.

Quiet Pool: we felt this was beautiful and excellent (maybe a bad thing though for party resort). Very scenic view with trees, beach and sea as backdrop. We got most of our drinks during day here. Again, it’s a long walk, but we enjoy moving around.

    Beach: see Grand Miches review.

Rooms: we had no issue with our Garden View room (building #6/2nd floor) although others have had issues. Room was nice. Some stupid design/practicality issues but we made it work for 2 nights. We are never in the room anyways. No real ocean view rooms and they are all far from the sea. There are elevators – corridors are open air. Noise level wasn’t too bad with some Bash reverberation in corridors offset by better door coverage then TTR.

Food/Restaurants/Bars: First night at Romanzo there were no menu choices, you got what was being offered from start to finish. Result of low occupancy. I felt the beef was better here then in MX. Hibachi was fine. Food was just ok in general. Buffet was chaotic not running smoothly but ok for breakfast. Workers/managers trying to figure out how to best take care about serving. We don’t do room service but I think it was operating. Bash food area is adjacent (somewhat separated area) to Bash Bar area. Sexy Pool bar set up similar to MX. Lobby bar is kind of out of place (not close to glass area overlooking Bash). Coffee shop was fine. No Sea Flirt type location with dinner sea view or the breakfast. No Sky Bar.

Bash: Bash bar has overhead cover in case of rain which came in handy one evening. Tables all around dance floor and probably will be “reserve only” at some point. Dance floor has a couple of steps up that go all the way around the dance area. Ramp from Pool level to Bash is stupidly steep compared to MX, I’m talking a bobsled run. Wife wears high heels every day and even she had difficulty managing the slope (forget about it after rain). There is an elevator just off buffet area up to main lobby area next to Bash which we ended up using most of the time. Still incredibly loud. Only a few people even ventured to dress up for Theme nights which was a huge disappointment (see Grand review). TMR didn’t really even have posters visible that I remember mentioning which theme was that night (also Store was not yet constructed and at TTR they always dress up the mannequins in theme).

    Service: see Grand Miches review.

Impression: until they can build up the occupancy level, the party energy is just not there yet. It was fun but not even close to TTR fun. The layout is great but it creates this sense of too much space. The lobby area just looks massive and bare. They have much detail work to be done to put their best foot forward. Still feels unfinished and of course third world type construction compared to US. We will not be back any time soon (see positive Grand trip review) but we would be willing to venture over occasionally while staying at Grand next door. The nature here is beautiful but most TMR guests are probably looking for a bigger all-day type party which just isn’t even close to being there yet. Add up all of the current minuses (inclusive of transport time/cost) and I think they will have to continue catering to younger single “groups” as in how they transformed TTR marketing in order to achieve decent occupancy at TMR. There is potential here, but just doesn’t fit what WE are looking for anymore. We made the best of our 2 nights before transferring next door to Grand, others made the best of it as well but we could tell there were some very disappointed guests. Give it time and hopefully it develops into something cool, or maybe not.

Thank you for an awesome review. We booked at the Temptation side at Miches in April because the rep told us on the phone we could only visit the Temptation side one day if we stayed at Grand. If there is free reign of both sides for Grand guests I want to try to upgrade our reservation. Also, does either side work well for the late night crowd?

While we were in Miches (2 nights Temptation / 5 nights Grand) occupancy was only 25-30%. While at Grand we were able to go to Temptation whenever we wanted...however while we were there the party was definitely at Grand at night. But like TTR and DMR in MX, it really comes down to crowd that is there at that time. We had a great group at Grand with ladies dressed up in theme outfits and the Disco was energetic every night from 10pm-11:30ish. While at Grand we never considered going over to Temptation at night but another review from the week after we were there mentioned no energy at Grand Disco...if occupancy starts to increase, who knows they may even change the policy of moving freely between resorts? Grand is smaller and more intimate setting so you don't need a large number of people to party...just a good group. While we were at Temptation side we had fun at night but due to the large area/size and small group it just seemed to have less energy and no theme night participation. Good luck and have fun! We will go back to Grand later in 2023.

Thanks, if it's even an option we will try to upgrade to Grand.
