Trip #8 spanning 25 years (since Blue Bay days). 2nd trip since the remodel Check in and room: Everything went smoothly, got there at noon room wasn't ready till 3 but we expected that. Stayed in a Lush Tower suite, 5th floor, excellent room. The room rate was not much different than an ocean view so we opted for it. It was nice, but if the price was much more than the rate, not sure it would be worth it. Gives you access to the sky bar, but only used it once, we'd much rather hang at the sexy pool. Took a full day to get our "swag bag" after asking twice for it, which we found odd. One question, why don't they have lockers for when you get there early? I'm okay with leaving our luggage but was not going to part with a backpack with cash, cell phones, passports so we had to carry it around for 3 hours. LOVE the new room key bracelets! Food: What the hell happened? Romanza was great as always. Room service was surprisingly good and the service was exceptional. We absolutely loved Amores last February. Traditional Mexican entree's, Mariachi band. Changed it basically to a taco restaurant. Really? you can get those at the buffet. It was still good for lunch however. Flame- Simply awful. Tasteless beef and pork so dry I checked for sawdust on my plate. The gentleman next to us ordered strip steak off the menu and all they did was cut a big slab of the beef on the skewer and served it to him. He asked for a baked potato and they brought him "baked potato wedges". Wife's chicken thigh was not cooked enough, bloody at the bone. Sorry folks, facts are facts. Sea Flirt- Not into seafood but had breakfast there. It was ok and nice to sit outside but really nothing special. Buffet- Ate breakfast there which was solid but they've really cut down the assortment of foods a lot! We perused it our last night for dinner but again, it's been scaled back so much we opted to go back to Romanza. REALLY liked that they now serve basic fare at the pool for lunch, Thought the burritos were very good. Coffee shop- very good only wish they would open a little earlier. Overall I'm sorry to say we'd give the food 2 stars. We aren't "gourmands" or ever claim to be, but last time it was awesome but this time poor, especially for the price you pay to stay there anymore. Wait Staff: Excellent as always! Saby was sent down from the gods! I will only say that they really need more bar staff at the sexy pool and absolutely at Bash! Those people work so hard and it still can take forever to get a cocktail, not their fault. Bash- The shows really are first rate, so much more so than anyplace we've ever stayed in Quintana Roo. Playmakers- Yes, there has been turnover but there always will be (except for JJ who is now 102 years old lol) We thought they did a great job. As I've stated in many posts, it may be a little tamer than before but still the best damned party in Mexico. Overall: Another fun trip to the adult Disney. I'd say they might want to be careful though as if the prices keep going up, the food gets worse and the amount of waitstaff they have gets lower, there will come a time when people will say it's just not worth it. One other thing..... I'd get to the sexy pool by 6am every morning and all the first row loungers were already spoken for. I'm thinking there needs to be some policy in regards to that as it didn't seem fair. Boobs Cruise- What can you say? It really is a ton of fun. Prefer the old lunch spot as it was more private, but still awesome.
Thanks, nice report! As I answered to another report just minutes ago, the food thing seems to be weird lately. It'll be our forth trip since Jan 2018 and all the restaurants were top notch on those trips. You didn't mention anybody geting sick either so this is comforting. Still can't wait to to get there next week! Anybody know where we can get a pizza delivered if the food's no good? Room key bracelets....wow! Won't be able to lock myself out anymore and have to go down the lobby drunk and half naked to get back to my room!
Nope no sickness nor did we hear of anyone else, except the big dude that had to be escorted out of Bash every night, but I don’t think the food had a thing to do with it! My wife asked me every time we left the room if I had the key, went from laughing about it to just shaking my head. Old habits die hard
Oh man can't believe I forgot to write about the chairhog thing . They wont listen to us, but someone with more visits might get through. Tell them to look at how they do it on a Carnival cruise, when pool attendants pass by and see an empty set of chairs, they hang a piece of paper on it what time it was and that all belongings will be taken away after 30min, and they actually did so. Trust me that worked, people are near their chairs at all time.
Chairs must be saved at 0500 LOL, I watched them put all the chairs away at night to clean the area. So who the hells getting up at 0500 ??????
DannKathy is fully correct in his statement... On our first day's we were jetlaged AF, so we saw the sun cone up a few times, first day we were walking around the resort grounds at 6:30am, there were already around 10 chairs claimed (I know its really WTF!?). They only take the chairs away on the day they drain the pool, all other nights they just take the mattresses away at night and they are paced back before 6:30am. Towel guy is handing out towels around 7 already...so yeah if you want prime real estate chairs...get up early I'm afraid (or at least it was on our week )
I am so happy about the new bracelets being room keys!! I (christy) knows though I will forget at least once and look for a room key...lmao
I have a chair that collapses and fits in my suit case maybe I will bring it lol. Thanks for the review.
